Not sure about a4 bud but on a5 if you look at the door rubber about level with handle and peel back as per picture it's there. A4 may be different?

Here's some info that might help diagnose what and where your issue(s) may lie using VCDS. I'm pretty sure at least some of these are Audi specific, and not standard OBD-II "P-codes"

Also try OBD II DTCs and OBD II Codes Database.

I'm sure there may be other codes thrown (perhaps 00185-00189?) regarding the keyless sensors not working - like control circuits, or the control module fault, or some other fault to ground, but this is a start.

Hello Kam, I have the same problem with my Audi door sensor and one of the sensors was found to be cracked and caused the system not working. Please let know more specific for how to disable the faulty sensor? At which side of wires did you cut off or just unplug the wire connector from the sensor? Anyone can help will be appreciate.....

Fw: Advanced key problem

I got my door advance key works again after changing the passenger side door sensor. The door sensor will not activate after changing but wait after you lock the car by the remote key and wait until the system reset itself....if you use the ohm meter to measure both points ...they should show a little bit movement for good sensor!
When installing the door handle back to the door, one must used a string to pull the operating lever outwards and clipped into the the door handle and stays behind the handle, you should feel the handle was pull back into the door....then you could release the string slowly..!
Thanks again for showing the pictures by shamus and Kam....!
The bad thing was I accidentally dropped the torex screw into the door as well as its holder for the rear door when trying to disassemble the sensor and I had to use 3inches screw to drill and hold the clip for door handle as replacing the torex screw....! I was still trying to think of getting the torex screw and its holder from the door later ....!

Yes after I drove the car around I noticed everything stated working later that day. Must have been a reset at some point.
Works great, the old sensors were definitely bad, cracked and waterlogged.

Thanks for the great info all, especially shamus

You're going to laugh when you read this

After getting the little cap off from the handle and loosening the allen screw at the side of the door getting the little square black plastic piece out that secures the handle was a hassle. As I was doing it I noticed a hole dead in the middle and I said to myself this hole has a purpose. So I took a small screwdriver put it in the hole, grab the square piece and while pulling towards myself I wiggled the screwdriver that's in the hole and viola came out with ease. I hoped this helped I wasn't trying to scratch my paint trying with pliers lol:wink2:

When my keyless entry stopped working all of a sudden i referred to this thread and although i don't have a vagcom or any diagnosis tools. I just made a wild guess as the sensors are the first to go especially if you have the old type transparent ones. I contacted alex @ europrice and he shipped a pair of the newer type that are more durable and i'm still rocking them today still not an issue at all. However, the installation was fairly quick and easy it took approximately 15 mins for both sides and that was taking my sweet time. The hardest part was finding that damn screw which was covered by a circular sealing tape used to stop water from entering inside the door.

Thanks guys, performed this surgery today with OEM part, restarted car and put the key in and out of the dock (???) and now it's all OK. Took a little long than 15 mins and be careful removing the plastics around the handle. The string 'tip' was very useful, getting the old sensor out of the handle was a PITA. Saved 400 uk pounds on the audi bill....might treat myself to a MMI adapter!

I had a go at this today, bit fiddly (especially removing the lock) but got there in the end thanks to this guide :)

Unfortunately the KESSY still isn't working for me, but I no longer have any fault codes showing in VCDS after clearing. Thoughts?

Hi,

First of all a big THANKS to the tutorial owner! Helped me a lot in getting the job done.
Now, for those of you having A4/S4 the Torx Screw is located under a plastic round cover. See attached pictures to understand better.
Screwdriver needed is T20 and the part number for A4/S4 component is 8K0 927 753B

Regards,
Raul
