Links to the latest versions of firmware and map update (with activator)

Firmware, in order:

0031_3 - https://mega.nz/#!0QMzmBrY!dvXVnAimkFaiNBqt_W49XYVAQdHstOJC39Q5exO8g0w
0206_3 - https://mega.nz/#!JU8VTaCC!BFFwWdE-x2Tlj8ZsWG69LOGw2dW4QJBhsHRm3H5IN50
0253 - https://mega.nz/#!YY80DSrB!j5mO0eJ5-3H9EKKP3CjyHZAuDxxENEhPnnHyNgwBu7Y
0257_6 - https://mega.nz/#!YB8kDBbZ!IF9dUHoNIb5gS2MvBaPCEQRgyU2lC6_mot5_F9mric8

Firmware, full package to 0257_6:

https://mega.nz/#!cZsBHKBI!-PkGxY8is1hAs-QVbiUfN4A-J0YkVd-qT00M_fEL2jE

There is unlikely to be any further firmware update for 3G from Audi so if you've updated to 0257_5 or 0257_6 you won't need to do it again.

If you don't have/can't get access to VCDS and need to activate the green menu you can use the following script from Congo's 3G+ thread [ Green menu activation ]

1. Unzip and copy to SD card.
2. Put the SD card in the MMI.
3. When prompted press the center knob.
4. After the script is done you will see confirmation screen.
5. Remove the SD card and reboot MMI

I haven't used it, but it appears plenty have :)

2017 maps version 6.24.2 and FSC activator - PLEASE NOTE - this package is ONLY suitable for 3G and not 3G+/3GP so if your firmware version doesn't match the style indicated in the instructions do not bother downloading this file, as it's been cut down to make the download smaller and so it'll fit on a 32GB SD card without issues.

https://mega.nz/#F!VRdjVJ7S!63opUL3IAdSrTiRY2IXuVQ

There are 2 folders - 1 contains the map files and the other the activator - they need to be copied to separate SD cards.

For facelift cars with 3G+/3GP see this thread for correct links - don't muddle them up as it doesn't go well.....

https://www.a5oc.com/forums/a5-general-q/113737-mmi-3g-3gp-navigation.html

Update instruction guide below - this one is a better layout than the one I produced a couple of years ago, and covers firmware updating etc

https://mega.nz/#!YU81xLIA!5HdPIKX6inbzA02hiML6jcfKQI8-AIvcvbgWH-hNo0g

PLEASE NOTE - THESE ARE FOR EUROPE, NOT ROW OR NA and I cannot help with questions about where to find them.

I recommend using JDownloader to grab the links and WinRAR for extracting the archives when finished downloading. If you hit the download limit from Mega and don't want to pay for premium downloads I can recommend using the Opera browser, which has a built in VPN tool so all you need to do is switch location and it will allow you to continue downloading. You do lose the option to use JDownloader if you go that route.

These files are from a variety of sources, so credit due to all those who compile and make available :grin2:

Cheers

Adrian

Do you need to leave the SD with the map files in the car whilst you insert another which has the activator?
No

Can you not do the map upgrade, clear the files off the SD, put the activator on and use the same SD again to activate?
Yes.

question: did you read the instructions ??
Hi, can anyone tell me the difference between this thread and the one with 5.24.4 maps by Congo?
Is it not both for the same MMI 3G Basic model? One has higher map version, one has higher firmware version, am I right?
Thank you.
this topic is not for MMI 3G basic, but it is for MMI 3G high.
Yep, B+O sound system here too which is also causing some nervousness!
B&O on a pré-facelift is no problem at all.
I also downloaded the firmware files but when unzipped there is folder 1 and 2 which both seem to have an overlap of each others files
if you have to do more than one firmware-update, you should keep them separately.
@Wilkoss
an update should be downloaded, extracted and applied.
if you have to do more than on update, you will have to download, extract and apply the 1st one you need. after this process has been completed, you can download, extract and apply the 2nd.
in other words, keep them apart.
and it does not matter how many folders, etc. there are in one update.
I understand that, but the problem is - when I extract the 1st upgrade there are 2 folders names 1 and 2.
when you have downloaded and extracted one update, you have one or more files and one or more folders.
you have to copy those files and folders - exactly as they are - to the SD-card.
so, you don't copy one folder over the other, keep them as they are.
so, you will not overwrite the contents of one folder with the contents of the other. in fact you don't need to know what is inside the folders.
One thing i'm not sure on is the maps. So near where i live is a major road that was finished in Feb this year, would this be on the latest maps or would that be a release in 2018?
maps are finished somewhere in autumn.
so, this new road should be in next version of the maps.

If my car battery is fully charged do you think it will be ok to do the map update with the engine off? Also if doing the map update will the car autolock when I walk back into the house. Will the update be affected if I'm having to unlock the car to check on how the update is going. :)
I would not take my chances.
it will depend on the quality of the battery.
your car will not autolock, it never does.
just keep the engine going and sit it out :)

Should I update the firmware step by step to 0257 and then update the maps, or I can go directly to 0257 and afterwards update the maps.
the answer to this question is somewhere in this topic.
I'm afraid I don't remember :)
To be sure what to do. It is 3GPplus system.
you are in the wrong topic.
this topic is not for 3Gplus :)
I did it, and now is work OK, but no Street view.
there is no street view in MMI 3G-high
as I mentioned before, you are in the wrong topic.
ok, but I get nice answer form Lukjod before.
might be, but this way, you are polluting this topic.

you should be here http://www.a5oc.com/forums/a5-general-q/113737-mmi-3g-3gp-navigation.html
Is there a guide
yes there is.
start reading at post #1 of this topic :)
@DcDave

Why don't you follow the instructions ??
Download the update, put it on an sd-card and perform the update.
Messing with the files and folders is the perfect way to get in trouble :nerd:

Hi Guys,

Is there somebody on the forum from Belgium who could give me some extra instructions to update my MMI 3G+.

Thanks!
Ben
to begin with: you are in the wrong topic :surprise:
"ONLY FOR 3GH (3G HIGH)

This is supposed to be for the 3GP, correct?
either you have MMI 3G High or you have MMI 3G+/3GP

so, which is it ??
It's no different from the previous update.
1. Clear the current navi DB and HDD partition (green menu).
I have update mine about 4 times now and have never erased the current maps.

always used the FSC-activation, which I cannot find anymore :)
do I have to reactivate, at all ??
hi guys im new here , can anyone help me to upgrade step by step , my audi q5 2011 , 2.0 tdi auto , i think i have mmi 3g
you do have MMI 3G and you are in the correct topic.
the instructions are in the 1st post of this topic.
1. Should I do step by step or just jump straight to latest version?
if I'm nog mistaken, you can go straight to 0257_6
but this has been mentioned in this topic.
no idea that a 09.00 version is.
the firmware update mainly are for bug-fixes, nothing more.
