@BobyG My log file showed i was missing acios_db.ini, same like you. Then I found a post from @DrGER witch pointed to a script to create a new file:
After running I had my Navi back running. I shows the old Map db version in the MMI version info, so i'm running the map update again.

Cheers!
Thanks for your reply.
did you have this issue during map installation . I mean, going through user defined mode, I cannot select subfolders of Audi_MMI_ECE.
Which are map files.
we’re you having this issue?
cheers.,

Hi Bilal_zain,

I took this steps:
1) Updated the firmware to HN+_EU_AU3G_K_0942 (stock) > no problems
2) Activated the green menu using the script > no problems
3) Enabled User defined mode in the green menu > no problems
4) Preped my SD card, removed all the folders and files, only kept the files accoring to 3GP_Filelist.txt
5) Updated the map to version 6.36.0 2023 using the User define options. Selected all yes where there is a ?
6) After a reboot my Navi got stuck on "initialising navigation"
7) Run the MMI3Ginfo script. After examining the log, i found that the acios_db.ini file was missing.
8) I run the script from @DrGER to create a new acios_db.ini and instantly my navi was working again.
9) Since the version info of the MMI still shows the old map version, i'm doing the map update again.

So I don't have the problems you experience.

Hi,
I have downloaded the file and extract it to SD card. It created 3 folders & 2 files as in picture below.
I inserted into slot after car all systems started functioning, but nothing happened.,no pop up on screen etc.
Am I doing it wrong?
look forward to your reply.
cheers

It should run automaticly. Can you read anything from the SD-card? Like a MP3 song?
Is it 32Gb or smaller?

Our MMI3GP will sometimes not recognize the first SD card insertion event, so if the "script starting" screen does not appear within, say, 5 seconds, remove the SD card, count to 10 slowly, then insert the SD card again. The second insertion almost always starts the script. --g

So your firmware is up tp date, i have found that i had to do the following:
  1. In green menu, go into Nav and delete database
  2. In green menu, go into Nav and delete HDD Partition
  3. In green menu, go into Nav and select delete HDD Partition again, and make sure it tell s you that the partition is rebuilt and you need to install the maps database again
IF you don't get the message in the green menu, it fails to install the maps as it has no idea where to install them. After install i then had to use the firmware card to install the map styles and Gemmi files agian
hi,
i need help, I changed region my audi MMI 3g unit and install eu firmware with out any issues. but for maps, instructions say to delete nav database & then nav partition .
i tried to install maps, via user defined mode , but cant select maps subfolders for installation. the folder i need to select is Audi_MMI_ECE and its subfolders etc. it seems selection is disabled, though checkboxes are not greyed.
any idea?
cheers

thanks a lot mate. I will do exactly.
one thing more,
During region conversion, before map installation, instruction says to delete Nav database and then Nav partition.
my question, does the system rebuilt partition after reboot?
May be partition are not created, that’s why map folder /sub folder doesn’t get selected.
what do you think?

After step 9, i still have map version 5.13.8 according to mmi version info. But i'm quite sure it's actualty 6.36.0.
@DrGER do you know how that can be? And what i can do about it?

Thank you!

These GEM shell scripts serve different purposes, you waste your time doing both.
Delete Nav database removes all files in the /mnt/nav/db directory (only), while Delete Nav partition reformats the /dev/hd0t77 HDD partition (which also deletes all data from the /mnt/nav filesystem, anyway). Whatever. My MMI3G Info script will report on the current contents of HDD partition /dev/hd0t77 mounted to /mnt/nav. --g

i tried with 4 different sd cards , all these SD cards were tested before & working and installed MMI firmware smoothly.
still no luck, MMI doesnt read , nothing pop up. I removed and inserted few times each card after waiting for 15 seconds (as instructed by @congo ) but no luck. will try with new sd cards too.
in the mean time, can you plz tell me how to check NAV partition, i suspect its not created thats why applications in map folder (Audi_MMI_ECE) doesnt let me select.
i followed instructions for region change & firmware upgrade, and not had any issues. but for installing maps it got stuck.
if someone else has this issue then plzz must share the solution. thanks.

Extract the MMI3G Info script ZIP archive directly to a blank/empty FAT32 SD card. If this or other SD scripts do not run as expected, you have other problems with your MMI3GP system. --g

@eEndje & @bilal_zain hello guys.

At the end, I managed to have the 6.36.0 2023 MMI3GP maps successfully running on the Audi A4 B8, year of manufacture 2013.

NOTE: I am not dealing with regions change, here. Working with EU all the time

I try to write down everything that I did in order to have the maps running now.

1) Initially I updated the firmware from Production / Factory (very old) version to K942. No problems here.

2) I applied the Nav Unblocker provided by @DrGER - NOT the one by Vlasoff / or that Congo recommends.
However, this was my main mistake. I applied the unblocker too early - before updating to 6.36.0 2023 maps.

Subsequenly when I updated the maps, the Navigation refused to initialise.
The Info script by DrGre showed that the reason for this " [INFO] Cannot find file acios_db.ini " .
Perhaps the conclusion here is that, due to the mixed installation steps, the Nav Unblocker prevented the creation of this .INI file.

3) So what I did to fix this situation was to reinstall the firmware.
The data related to the Nav Unblocker is saved in the flash memory, so reinstalling the firmware removes the unblocker completely.
I decided to downgrade from K942 to K900. Selected " Y " for everything possible.

4) Then reinstalled the 6.36.0 maps again. Selected " Y " for everything possible. Here, I had an Error 140 window appering on several ocassions.
Each time I selected Retry. Eventually it seems that the installation completed successfully.

5) Then pressed NAV button to run the navigation. An error appeared saying that the access to the navigation database is blocked - that is normal. To overcome this, I applied again the same Nav Unblocker.

6) Everything seems to be working.

Main priece of advice - once you updated everything and try to run the new maps, a message should appear telling you that the navigation databse is blocked. Only then apply the unblocker.

Good luck, if you have further question I remain standby.

Boris

Hi,
Thanks a lot for your detailed reply. Really appreciate your time & help.
I followed the instructions. First change region in green menu in Internal, SWLL, Nav etc. To EU. And then installed the firmware by enabling (ignore region).According to instructions, I choose “standard” option and installed firmware. Without any errors.
I reboot MMI. & checked MMI version, it was showing k900 version.
next step was to install maps, according to instructions. I deleted maps, and then deleted partition, and tried to install maps via user defined mode.
problem Started here. I went into maps folder AUDI_MMI_ECEto select subfolders, but it doesn’t select. Checkbox cannt be checked.
I tried to run script by @congo & DrGre but didn’t work. I reformat few new se cards and tried again but script didn’t run at all.
The only issue I was facing I was maps applications couldn’t be selected for installation.
I made separate sad cards for MMI 3G & MMI 3GP maps , both were under 32GB. And tried but sane result.
yesterday, I tried to reinstall firmware via “USER DEFINED” mode. And selected most of the applications (except BOSE), re installation went through smoothly, but at the end most of the text has disappeared from each menu option in MMI.
I researched this issue, the solution is to change the language in EEPROM (5F) to ENGLISH_GB. this can’t be done via VCDS, though I have autel im508 & XTOOL. But can’t edit EEPROM. (5F),
I have bought OBD11 Pro , waiting for delivery. I would be able to change language I. 5F eeprom & also change region in radio module to UK frequency.
but the original problem still not solved yet. A guy or 2 had this issue, I tried to contact them , for how they resolve it, but no success yet.
will keep updated forum with updates.
Thanks everybody.
regards,

I would like to download the new maps for MMI3G+ but it seems possible only by Megasync. My download limit is 5GB and it is no more possible do buy more GB for only one month as in the past, but only subscriting an annual plan for €9.99/month for one year. Please let me know if exist another mode to dowload (magnet, torrent.... or something cheaper).
Thank you.
