Dear all,

May somebody provide asisstance, since I am in the following situation:

I pressed on the Navigation button in order to check if I can finally access the new maps ( be able to see streets, etc). But currently a kind of a boot loop pattern appears: 1) The MMI reboots after some time, 2) a loading bar from 0%-100% appears for a short time, and 3) then the screen freezes to "Initialising navigation" , "Please wait." ( attached is an image of the "frozen screen" when I attempt to access navigation)

Fortunatelly, I can access the different menus of the MMI and the second picture shows what is visible when I access Setup MMI -> Version Information. Information is missing for "Nav.database version information".

Prior to facing with the above problem, I applied the following sequence of installation steps:

1.) I updated successfully from HN+_EU_AU3G_P0513 to HN+_EU_AU3G_K_0942 Modified firmware - User Defined Mode / No Sound systems

After just the firmware update, no issues were spotted with the Old Maps or any other part of the MMI

2.) ( I think ) I installed successfully the MMI3G-Navdb-Unblocker kindly provided by DrGer.

3) (I think ) I installed successfully the new 6.36.0 2023 MMI 3G High/Plus Europe. My old maps were 8R0060884AH ECE 5.13.8

I believe that I erased all unnecessary files ( i.e the MMI3G related ones) and the final size of the maps that I copied on my SD card was about 26-27 GB.
To enable the User Defined Mode, I amended the metainfo2.txt file in the root directory AND ALSO the metainfo2.txt file in the folder MMI3GP.
The amendment was exactly as instructed in the Q&A section on the first page. Subsequently I managed to access the User Defined Mode, without issues. I marked with Y everything that was marked with N or ? and then started the update of the maps.

Please, drop a short line what could be the reason for failing initialisation?

Thank you very much in advance!

Dear all.

When the MMI3G-HDD-Prep-Tool-main script is running in QNX 6.5, an error occurs when creating an extended partition. Only 3 main and 1 extended sections are created. Toshiba 60 gb disk from mmi3gp Japanese.
Tell me what's wrong with him.

Post a picture of the Setup MMI > Version information screen (or tell us what the Software version is). You likely need HN+R_EU_AU_K0942: 33.55 GB folder on MEGA --g
Here are the MMI images you asked for, I think this is a US imported Audi.. What should I do? - PS: I dont really have a use for the map, just wanna update the MMI system so bluetooth connects faster

NAR spec MMI3GP, you can try this update: --g

@DrGER , when available , could you please review the log file that I attach.
I ran your MMI3G Information Report Script.

I am fighting with what I described a few comments before this one. For convenience, I again attach the images of current problem that I am struggling with.

Good news is that I paid attention to apply the MMI3G-Navdb-Unblocker , not the one provided by Vassof.

Bad news is that:
1) I applied MMI3G-Navdb-Unblockerprior to the 6.36.0 nav. database installation.
2) after the nav.database installation I applied MMI3G-Navdb-Unblocker again 1 or 2 times (hope that this does not have any bad implications)

I spent the whole day reading responses in this thread, from two fellow guys (2022 year, pages 48-50 ) that probably faced the same issue.
But would welcome any advice from you or anyone else, based on the current content of the log file that I upload. Hope it is best to start from here

Thank you very much in advance for the attention and time!

P.S: To facilitate you, my firmware and nav.data base updates are as follow:

From HN+_EU_AU3G_P0513 -> (to) HN+_EU_AU3G_K_0942 Modified firmware - User Defined Mode / No Sound systems

From 8R0060884AH ECE 5.13.8 -> 6.36.0 2023 MMI 3G High/Plus Europe.

@Tahas -- "g" is my initial. The correct update for your NAR MMI3GP is VAG part number 8R0906961ES, which is contained in the linked RAR file, above. Running the K0942 EUR/RoW update on your MMI3GP without proper preparation to change the region & EEPROM language list will make your MMI system unusable. --g

So, downloading and setting up the file you sent would be completely fine and wont make any issues happen with the car right?
If so could you please link me to a good youtube video that I could follow?

Hi All,

I was quoted ~ÂŁ350 for this service from local Audi garage, which seems excessive... ÂŁ100 for 1hrs labour maybe... but the rest seems ott.

So, like everyone else, I have an out-dated sat-nav - HN+_EU_AUG3G_P0612 Nav dab: 8R0060884AR ECE 6.15.5., that is in need of updating.
It's an Audi A4, and there's no SIM slot inbetween the 2 SD cards. And I can't see anything in the glove-box either... so I'm a bit confused as one of the first instructions is to remove the SIM...
So, is this applicable, or is there a more specific guide for my car/system?

@Icekool -- Everything you need to bring your MMI3GP current can be found in the first post of this thread. Your A4 has nothing unusual fitted to it. You might want to refer to my update guide to avoid unnecessary steps (like deleting old data first manually, which, in your case, is complete unnecessary) HERE. --g

Thanks for swift reply/ Excellent, more guidance is much appreciated.

Although I work in IT, this seems quite complicated, so I'm going slowly. :)

So, I have an SD card with the K0942 update on it, and when accessing the red menu, this is picked up OK.
Device section lists several as Y and some as N, but I presume leaving as the defaults is the way to go.
Question - Is this OK to run without starting the engine, or will it time-out before completion? Or would it be recommended to do it on a long drive somewhere? (or is that out of the question as you shouldn't drive whilst it does this?)

@Icekool -- When the Red Engineering Menu is active, the normal time-out for power-off/shutdown is preempted to allow for unattended software/navdb updates. In any case, the K0942 software update only takes 20-30 minutes, max, and can (should) be done with ONLY the MMI system powered on (that is, the nothing else is turned on via the ignition switch). A battery maintainer is advised for the longer navdb update. Re the default selections, yes, that is preferred -- 'N' means version on the SD is same as installed. --g

Thanks @DrGER, now at HN+EU_AU3G_K0942_3.

So, that was 11 pages worth of guide followed.
I now have Maps (took a while via Mega, waiting 5hrs each time, lol)... and 6.36.0 to sort following the 3GP Filelist - which has reduced the size to fit on my 32Gb card (29.1 usable).
I'll give the car a run out first tomorrow, and then give this a go later.

I don't own a battery maintainer, so fingers crossed :)

Our experience is that doing the firmware update is what triggers the need for (re)activation following the next navigation database update. But look at the thread (e.g., post 225, above). Now that you're at K0942, you'll only need to "activate" following your next navigation update. BTW, deleting the previous database in the Green Menu doesn't affect (re)activation, or is even necessary if you're updating the same region (so, if you already have EU nav data and are updating with EU nav data, no need to delete the nav partition/data).
Hi,
I am kind of sane situation. Upgraded firmware from Jp to Eu MMI3g + , and then deleted Nav database & partition, as instructed in guide by @congo.
When I tried maps to install via user defined , I couldn’t select maps folder & subfolders
Does firmware require activation before installing maps? Because firmware region changed & updated.
plz help me how to Activate map folder for installation? Picture attached

@bilal_zain -- Too many unknowns here. Are you using User defined update ? Does your JP model main unit have enough HDD space for the ECE navdb ? Suggest that you run my MMI3G info script (HERE) and post the resulting log to a shared cloud drive (Google Drive or OneDrive) for review & inspection by the forum. --g

hi ,
Thanks for your reply. I will do the script run & let you know., regarding HDD, it definitely should not be issue. This is my 2nd jap car. First was done by a guy without any issue , but this one I wanted to do myself to learn the process. and also many people on forum here have done it too.
there was another guy on forum who had this issue, and then resolve it. I tried to contact him but didn’t get reply yet.
cheers.,

Hi @BobyG ,

I have the exact same problem after the same steps. Did you already found a solution?

Thank you!

Hi
I copied the files onto the SD card (fat32) and inserted when all the system in operation. Nothing happened. No alert or anything pop up. I waited for 15 minutes & so.
card is fat32 , it’s working , map was omit, and MMI was reading the files properly.
plz tell me how to execute this script to get info about MMI.
thanks.,

@BobyG My log file showed i was missing acios_db.ini, same like you. Then I found a post from @DrGER witch pointed to a script to create a new file:
After running I had my Navi back running. I shows the old Map db version in the MMI version info, so i'm running the map update again.

Cheers!
