Blue/white LED lighting of the temperature setting - think that's it! Does modernise the interior a bit, but I've decided not to bother unless my climate module dies

I bought a FL climate control off eBay. Had the component protection removed from the dealer and the fan control didn't work. Had some coding done remotely by another member using VCDS and the fan works perfectly now. The unit looks great when paired with the FL MMI with the piano black face. Ended up being a little expensive for the component protection removal and the coding, but I'm happy with the results. PM me for info on who did the coding and I'll refer you to them. Works great but requires CP removal and additional coding.

Do you know mayby what number of climate control you've had and what you've got now?
I'm wondering if it need to be almost this same number apart from this two letters on the end.

The part number on the Pre-Facelift control was 8T1 820 043 AQ.
The part number on the new Facelift control is 8K1 820 043 AQ.

I think the last 2 letters have to do with being either a single or dual AC control, but the difference in Pre/Post facelift is the second digit changing from a T to K.

does anybody know if while taking component protection off the unit coding from old one need to be paste in at this same time?
One lad attempt to take it off my unit but said that unit will not accept coding so CP cannot be taken off.
Any suggestion welcome...

Coding facelfit panel

Hello,
I also have a facelift climate control panel and i would like to install it on my pre facelift a5 cabrio.
It will be the last change for a complete facelift i side the cockpit.
Can someone help me with the coding?

Can anybody point me in the right direction for coding a facelift heater unit. I have had CP removed and the unit installed. AC is not working, fan speed control not working and the fans seem to keep going for a few minutes after switching the unit off. I've had somebody trying to code today but this is as far as we got. Help...! (This is for a 2009 Q5 using a facelift heater control)

Anyway, here is the correct coding:

- Enter Address 08: Auto HVAC (J255)
- Select coding (don't use the longcoding helper yet)
- Copy the coding from the old airco unit to the new one. (Copy it from a vcds scan)
- Then go to Byte 1, bit 4 (deselect MMI 3G display)

Go to Adaption:
Channel 79: change from 1 to 0. This changes the LIN-Bus from the blower unit from new to old generation. This is why the fan control speed doesn't work as many people describe.
Channel 35: 0 or 1 (depends if you have the humidity sensor in the inside mirror)
Channel 85: change from 0 to 1 (VFL/FL related)

Now the unit will work okay and will generate no errors.

Side effects:
You lose the visual presentation on the center display if you have Radio Concert/Chorus or MMI 2G.
Your seat heating has instead of 6 just 3 settings. Not a very big problem. 3 is the equivalent of 6 warmth wise.

If you have MMI 3G it will function 100% correctly (so with the full visuals) but then skip "Then go to Byte 1, bit 4 (deselect MMI 3G display)"

And ofcourse you need the CP removed with a VAS connection.

Do you think this coding process will work also when changing from 1-zone (pre-facelift) to 2-zones (facelift) climate control? Without taking into account the faulty codes on missing sensors. I will just need it to work as before but look nicer.
