I did the adaptation for the 1-zone climate control on A4 B8 as it is described above, I copied the coding from the old non-FL one to the new FL-one and then did the adaptation on channel 79 and it works like a charm. btw the old coding had only 4 bytes and the new one needed 5, so for the last byte I just coded it to 00: 64020000 -> 6402000000. I have symphont radio so I didn't lose the visual presentation (skipped this step "Then go to Byte 1, bit 4 (deselect MMI 3G display)")

does that mean temperature change is visable on your screen? I have done this mod as well and I have a symphony radio but it doesn't show me temperature on the screen.

Just got my FL controls in.
Will do the CP and Coding tomorrow.

Will post any info that can be useful to others once I get it all up and running.

Super excited to have the heater controls match my S5 cluster.

Well I'm a little stuck but haven't given up.

CS for the used unit is stored in its MCU and not a eeprom that I can remove and read.
AVDI cannot read the CS via OBD on these units.
I don't have the CanBus Gateway from the car it was removed from.

-I am currently trying to get my hands on the CanBus Gateway from the original car
-I am trying to get into ODIS session to set the CS to virgin. Once that's done I can adapt the CS and code it with AVDI and VCDS

Sorry to resurrect an old thread. Just wanted to say thanks to the guys for figuring this one out. It was my hardest mod so far, due to the fact that I found it near impossible to get the CP removed from the FL Climate control I bought of eBay. Spoke to Audi Dublin and they initially said no problem would cost €20 to remove and I just needed proof of purchase. So when the day came they totally backed out, saying that they would only remove CP from a unit they supplied.

So my next stop was one of the AutoElectricians who specialise in ECU repaires etc. They said no problem, they have three methods of removing CP. Long story short, couldnt remove the CP with out the Gateway Unit from the same car (as the Climate COntrols) or a dump from the same gateway Unit.

So as a last resort found the name of a guy from the internet who had good reviews and he remotely removed CP for me. So all good. Thanks guys for all the information, coding was easy as only the motor didnt work correctly, but when coding was done it was all good.

Hello guys,

I retrofitted the FL HVAC. I do the coding and adaptation but i still get two errors:

Something in mind? Is it possible that the second error is due the component protection?

just as a bit of an update here... successfully retrofitted a FL climate panel into a preFl S5

Car is a 2007 with heated seats and high 2G MMi

new Fl climate panel has part number 8K2 820 043 AQ

still have to find a way of getting the display to work on the MMI screen but it all works as it should...

Did you check for errors with vcds?
I did, as said there is a communication issue. Current thinking is to check the pin outs between the older and newer style module to see if the CAN line to the BCM is correct. Faults are as below

a bit more food for thought, from what I can see the control unit is J255 which is connected to the dash panel J285 via connector T20e on pins 4 and 5 on the original climate unit as fitted to the 2007.
The new climate panel J255 the connector T20e and the same pins connects to J533 (Data bus diagnostic interface) which then feeds to the dash panel J285 on

The 2007 S5 doesn't seem to have the J355.... more hunting

Update?

Did anyone find a solution to getting ac info back after the FL climate upgrade on 2G High MMI?

Think I'm gonna do this on my 2g MMI which means I'll lose the information appearing on the screen. It's not an issue for temp, fan speed or heated seats as the buttons or screen display that information, but how does it work for selecting which fans are active (i.e. feet, dash vent, windscreen etc)? Is any indication given on the climate unit display?
