Just driven it back. Wow. WOW - incredible, heart pumping - feels like a different car now.

The dyno runs, the green one is before and the other two are after...

Very nice

Cuppa,
Would you mind answering a few questions about the capristo exhaust?
1. In cruise mode how does the sound compare to OE?
2. Can you set the system to stay in cruise mode no matter what the back pressure is? Closed mode I suppose.
3. Any idea what the decibel level is in open mode?
4. Any other thoughts about the system?

The link to the manual I posted in my first post in this thread seems to be dead, but thankfully Google have a cached copy...

Exhaust Control

1. In cruise mode it's quiet, very quiet. This is perfect for me as when I'm cruising along I want to hear my music.
2. You can programme the backpressure thresholds to whatever you want, so I guess you could programme the threshold to be very very high and so the valves never open?
3. No idea on sound levels, not done a test
4. I love it. It's not too loud, it is droneless. I can change it with a press of a button, plus as and when things change in the car I can adjust the backpressure threshold accordingly so can fine tune when to open the valves.

Your link still works just fine. I should have mentioned that I reviewed the manual and just wanted to clarify some things based on your experience. Thanks

Weird, the link was dead for me earlier on.

What I would say is that when I spoke to an authorised reseller he said if you have after market downpipes then they can't guarantee droneless operation (which make sense). They don't make downpipes to go with it, just recommend keeping the originals.

Very good to know with the downpipes. What am trying the achieve is to 1) Close the system enough for tracks with 86 decibel sound limits and 2) Close the system for business use when I have investors and board members in the car. Even in comfort mode the OE sport exhaust slips into open when you get in the higher rpm's. But, it is not that loud. I am concerned that the Capristo is very loud when it opens so I want to keep is closed for certain occasions.

I just tried your link again and it worked fine. I am clicking on the (Remote Control Guide) link on post #1 of your build thread.

I would have thought that most people as passengers would love to hear the burble as the exhaust flaps open. I've never had a passenger who hasn't smiled at that, even my mother! Although I did get a bollocking for "accelerating too quickly".

I think what you want could be achieved by just putting the thresholds way up for the comfort mode and then when you do want to hear the noise then put it in a different mode.

Don't forget though, I don't have drive select and a manual shift, so the system will work differently for me. The Capristo install for the S5 and RS5 are very different to each other, e.g. I have a remote control fob, but I don't think the RS5 system comes as standard with one as it uses the Drive Select settings (I may be very wrong about that though so worth checking out).

Horus on these forums has it on his RS5 and would be the best bet to contact about the RS5/Capristo combination and how it can be configured/setup.

Most love the burble, but I lead a dual life. During the week I am conservative manager of an insurance company that has very conservative investors who get skitish at any thought that I do anything remotely dangerous. At other times a speedfreak waiting the track to open. Thus the stealth RS5...

Thanks again for the insights. I'll check with Horus.

OMG seen those plasma direct coil packs! When I was in the civic forums a member had turbo'd their 2.0l and upgraded to these, aren't they Uber expensive?!

Loving the upgrade either way! keep em' coming Cuppa!!

Always have my eyes on this thread
