Brake pads warning light

Hi guys,
Had a brake pads warning come up, but it's not come up again the last couple drives.
How long do I have before it becomes more of an issue?
Also anybody know where I can source/have supplied slotted discs? When I replace the pads I'd like to upgrade to something prettier :)

I'd like to know this too as I keep getting the warning beep, happens every other day or so but looks like I have still got meat on them.

I want grooved and vented discs too, makes for better breaking for minimal cost.

Hah I'm just vain, I know discs don't make much difference, just want shiny ones.

Looking at buying MTEC grooved&dimpled with mintex pads, any criticisms for this setup? Anybody had similar, or know of better for a similar price?

Ended up with an EBC set, seems good, only I'm now 700 miles in and the front discs have a dull gray band about an inch wide on the outer edge. Any ideas what that might be?
