Hello to all forum members. I hope someone may be able to help with a problem with my car.
Basically my Audi A5 3.0 tdi 2009 is showing multiple errors in the dashboard. The errors it is curenrly showing are TPMS, ABS, Parking brake and ESP. What's surprising is that my car runs absolutely fine and not in limp mode(as i read in some posts by other forum members)

Could anyone help explain what's causing these multiple error codes.

Many thanks

Thanks very much.... I have ibd2 blutooth version and an app called Torque. I scanned the car using this app and nothing came up. Anyone knows someone who owns vcds around Huddersfield area please?

Are you getting any power management warnings? Potentially low battery could cause this, or a comms fault with a module.

Defo get VCDS on it - unfortunately I'm not local to you....

Nope no power management lights are on... I have taken the battery lead off for a couple of minutes but the warning lights haven't disappeared. Someone said audis throw theserm error codes in cold weather. Thanks very much, I'll find someone loval who owns VCDS. U just wana narrow down the cause of these faults so that i dont have replace multiple sensors which dont need replacing... Car runs perfectly fine though

I had an ESP fault a while back and it kind of limped (almost like it was trying to brake when I tried to go over a certain speed) and didn't clear on stopping or removing fuse. However, as I continued the journey it eventually said consult manual and then the dash screen went blank. Bizarrely the car started driving normally again. Next day it started fine and was back to normal and thankfully the screen came back. Got garage to scan it and they couldn't seem to find anything amiss. Their explanation was that maybe the ABS (or MAF sensor??) went wonky and flooded the module with garbage data. As you have multiple faults it sounds like all attached to that module (I don't have TPMS but assume it would run up the same loom) so sounds lke you could have experienced something similar?
Funnily enough I scanned with Carista and it showed the fault back on my screen during read... and results also showed ABS and Parking Brake (if I recall correctly) so guess they are all on the same module.

I'm glad to say it was not affecting anything and once I'd established the ESP was fully functional, after driving with caution for a week, that it's never come back.

Not sure it helps you but you may pick up on similarities. The fact you've removed power and still getting it does seem to point that the issue is still there... although multiple faults doesn't help you pinpoint it much. How about note down but clear the faults and hope and pray?

Thanks moominjuice. I'm hoping to find someone local whi can scan and remove the errors and fingers crossed they dont come up again. I'm hopeful because the car runs with no issues at all. I'll update my post if and when i find the cause and the solution.

A problem on some earlier Audis and VW's was the brake light switch failing.

This caused all the lights on the dash (as you listed above) to come on along with (sometimes but not all the time) the brake lights or cruise control not working properly too.

Its not as common for the B8 chassis but as it's a DIY job and only around ÂŁ20 it's worth having a try.

O.E number is 4F0945459B.

The same part was fitted on the A6 2004> on and the Touareg 2002> and if you search the net you can find instances of this problem

Hi everyone, updating the thread, as i have just been to a local garage who run diagnostic and said the driver side front ABS sensor is faulty causing the multiple errors. Please see the image below.
I need some help please. Anyone know how to replace the abs sensor and which sensor to buy? When i search it on ebay it brings up a number of sensors ranging from ÂŁ20 to ÂŁ82 in price.

I hope someone may be able to help.

Kind regards

Just out of interest had you just pressure washed it or been driving through deep pools of water?
I reckon a replacement is a good idea but just recall a few people saying ABS isn't 100% weatherproof so can glitch on the odd occasion. Most likely duff... but you never know.

I havent pressure washed it recently. But have been driving form hudds to glasgow in wet weather. So it may be what u pointed out. Is there a possibility that i remove the sensor and clean it and it start working properly again? If not could you please suggest if cheaper variant from of this sensor from ebay will do the job? Many thanks

Jav, I've no idea of which sensor you need (hopefully someone else might pipe up with that) However, here's a guide for front axle ABS (not strictly 3.0 version) but have root around that site to see which suits your car.

http://workshop-manuals.com/audi/a2...stem_on_front_and_rear_axle/removing_and_installing_speed_sensor_on_front_axle/

While you are at it check for corrosion. I recall the garage mention that what the sensor picks up on can corrode... so if you replace the sensor and it still gives errors it could point to that. Having said that I think that is far less likely, but worth having a nosey at.

Suspect the part you're looking for is a 4E0927804F which is around ÂŁ65 +vat from Dealer. (number from my 3.0 2008 model - pm me your reg if you'd like and i can check yours to confirm)
There are other aftermarket ones available (probably Bosch 0 265 007 928 would be your best aftermarket bet)

no. 5 on the image below

Moonin, pretty sure the ABS ring is an integral magnetic ring within the wheel bearing on the A5's

Cheers Cav, that rings a bell with what mechanic said but still remember him saying something about corrosion. Can't remember whether it was debris intefering with the sensor or whether he'd seen very rare cases of it disintegrating. Much beer and wine molecules playing with my grey matter since that conversation so I may well be wrong.

Many thanks to Cav and Moominjuice for taking time to help me out. I am currently in Glasgow. I am hoping to try and replace the sensor on xmas holidays and will update the thread in due course.
Cav, if you could please check the part number. My cars Reg number is EA09 KLS.

Have a lovely Christmas and new years.

Yeah, the same numbers Jav, both the switch and the sensors.

804 is right and 803 is left on the sensors.

Good luck ;)

let us know how you get on

Hello Cav and Moominjuice.... Just an update. I drove the car couple of hundred miles during xmas holidays and for an unknown reason the abs, parking brake and esp lights disappeared from the on board computer. Tmps was still on so i had reset it through mmi. I have attached a pic for your consideration.... I dont know if i should be happy or not as yet because the lights may appear again when i return home and drive the car again. But for now it looks as the problem has disappeared without me having to do anything.
I would like to thank you both for your help. Have a lovely new year :)

Im having the exact same problem with my ´11 Audi A5 2.0 TFSI. Started around christmas when all of a sudden the ABS, ESP, TPMS and Parking brake lights lit up. Sometimes the EPC light is lit as well. Went to see a Audi garage, they changed the batteri cause they said it was quite poor, but the problem came back two days after. Went back this week and they changed the powercable from the fusebox and till the ABS control unit itself. Drove one hour after and boom - it was back. Awaiting the local Audi garage to bump their heads together and come up with a plan.

Hi, see the image attached below. The fault on my car is intermittent too. The diagnostic done by a local garage showed abs sensor faulty. I dont believe it to be faulty as it may just need cleaning. I have left it as it is for the time being and await the weather to get a bit better. Hope this helps. Let us know if you get to the bottom of this issue. Regards

My problem seems to be fixed now. Got the car back from the dealer 3 days ago, and it looks fine now. They found a mechanical fault on both the ABS-sensors in the diagnostics, so they pulled them off and discovered that the sensors had 1mm deep grooves in them. Pulled off both front wheel bearings, and found the source of these grooves on the sensors. Over time dirt and brake dust (I guess) has attached itself to the back of the wheel bearing-hub (which I call it at least). As you propably know, here sits the rotors of which the ABS-sensors reads the RPM on the wheels. Changed both sensors and wheel bearings. Not a quick or cheap fix, but I sure as hell hope it is the correct fix. Paid about 11 000,- Norwegian Kroner for this (about 1350 US dollars), and thats with a good discount.

Hi folks.. sorry to drag this thread back up but mine sprang an error again tonight (18 months later!) Parking brake light came with error beep then ESP yellow car light came on (signalling it was disabled) Meanwhile felt like brakes being applied when trying to increase speed - not constant so an annoying intermittent judder every few seconds. After a minute or two I got a consult manual message. Thankfully screen didn't go blank and after the message the brakes stopped being applied but I did notice the power steering seemed a lot heavier. ESP light remained on so drove with caution.
The lack of power steering was a new one on me... although I never switch the ESP off so don't know if this is normal when in off mode?? Anyone?

Typically after I'd parked up for a while everything was back to normal. Will scan in the morning but pretty sure I'll be none the wiser.

Scanned this afternoon while giving it a well deserved vacuuming.

I'm flagging up the following;

Heating and aircon:
01316 ABS Control Module

ABS:
00778 Steering Angle Sensor (G85)
01314 Engine Control Module (ECM)

Steering angle
[failed to connect]

I know a few who have done retro cruise control have experienced this so does this sound like steering sensor fault or could it be an ABS sensor just causing the module to flag steering sensor (as they are all dependent on each other for ESP) ?

Anyone changed the steering sensor - is it better to DIY or warranty job?

It seems back to normal but I don't want to be stuck doing 35mph on the motorway if it cocks up again!
