@Stewart M : One thing that confuses me about the HNav_EU_K0257_6_D1 update (downloaded from mega.nz) is that it contains more than one update for the MU9308 device. The first one in the archive appears to be what is installed on your system -- that is, it has trainname HNav_EU_K0257_6_D1 but version number is 0143; the third set in the archive has the correct MU version, 0187. When you try to redo the K0257 update, you should look for ifs-root version change from 956 to 1076 (as noted in their metainfo2.txt files). --g
OK. Now I'm confused, ha ha.

I have just redownloaded the 0257_6 firmware from the individual link posted on this thread: MMI 3G navigation 6.24.2 Europe and firmware updates -...

I then checked the ifs-root version, and it is indeed 1076 according to the metainfo2.txt file. I then went and checked the the two other 0257_6 update packages I have, which are no doubt from the same source, one individual and one from the complete update package. They all have the ifs-root 1076 too. I am unsure how to check for the correct MU version (0187).

I do note that there is indeed 5 folders listed in the update folder. 1, 2, 3, MU9307 and MU9308. So how do I ensure that I have the correct files for updating with? Obviously it was a while ago that I did the initial update (possibly July last year), but I assume I followed the instructions and extracted the whole package to SD card. Should I remove the 1 & 2 folders on this next attempt to leave the third folder intact for the upgrade? Or how do I proceed?

Gents, I need to pick your knowledge about activating the 6.36.0 in Audi A6 4F 2009's HNav with a K0257_6, as I have been looking in the net for days without luck, and you seem to be my best hope atm.

My last update before this one was the 6.24.2 using the FSC Activator, my understanding was that the update will be flawless under this firmware and activator, but to my misfortune, not, I got a The Navigation Data Blocked message after the update. If I am correct, I can only activate the map using the FSC Activator due to the MMI age, as Keldo's Activator is for more recent MMI.

Do you know how to activate or do you have the FSC Activator for 6.36.0 in an Audi A6 4F 2009's HNav with a K0257_6?

Thanks

@ Stewart
Well, my opinion is thet you can't delete anything, because it will not be working script, metainfo first check is there all files than start update (as I say my opinion) maybe you can wait for DrGER answer.

Also, I didn't delete anything and get MU which is correct, so don't delete anything and try update, in my case if you can't update firmware than everything is fine (in your case I believe that at list one packed will be install again) maybe not.

If you can't reinstall firmware standard or user manual, than skip that part (that was what I did) and focus on maps, first mmi will not give me possibilities to update standard and user manual, then I delete navi data (green menu, swdl), then delete navi partition (green menu, swdl) and then reinstall maps from start, finished hour ago, maps works more then 15 minutes then car has to go further, so I believe that they still work, I will check later or tomorrow depending when car will be back.

MY OPINION (TAKE IT WITH RESERVE)

when we (me and others) who put wrong activator few times, and remove activators (of course after we already install new maps, important I will explain later in post) we partially change something in mmi, first of all in firmware, after we understand what we done we start fixing K0257, when we made that (moment I mention, there are no way that we can update firmware standard or user manual, for me that is signal that now everything is OK with K0257) but maps are no longer OK, reason usually you need first to finish with firmware then maps, but in our case we finish firmware then maps, then we made mistake and ruin firmware, then we fix firmware but maps are installed before last firmware update, aspect that maps stay same all time when me made all this mistake is optimistic (I don't know why) but it looks that something in maps change also.

My suggestion for you Stewart is, try firmware update, if that isn't possible, mmi not accept standard or user manual (nothing to install, can't check start download or boxes in user manual ) then you can delete navi data and navi partition and put new maps. For me this works, you can't ruin nothing (my opinion) if you do this like I was.
Important, don't try now to change firmware, put same K0257 (in my case K0257 6 D1) and try, if you made some installation then check maps (after restart) if maps still not working I suggest new set of maps (in may case 6.36.0)

Wish you luck and I hope that I will read this evening that you made big progress

@NoMyNaMe ,read few pages here in this thread and you will find DrGER unblocker script (let say post #365) but I suggest that you read few more pages to be sure and informed what is it and how to use etc...

Thanks Vlada33 for the prompt reply. I found the script and tried, but no prompt is shown on screen after inserting the SD card. I have seen videos of people running the script successfully following the instructions, but I noticed that their MMIs are more recent than mine (mine is an A6 C6 4F 2009).

Now, if the script should run in any case, then, I may be missing a step, do I need to enable a feature that allows scripts to run, a key sequence?

OK. Now I'm confused, ha ha.

I don't claim any special expertise with any MMI3G systems, only what I can tease out by inspecting the contents of various system components. In the case of HNav updates, I see that the MU9308 folder references "preUpdateScript", which says something about subdirs (presumably from the metainfo2.txt folder). The listing you shared earlier tells me that the contents of folder "1" was used to update your ifs-root & efs-system components MU9308 components.
At this point, I would be curious to see what the Red Engineering Menu Update process shows you when you attempt to update using the (unmodified) K0257_6_D1 SD card (as a user-defined update) and you select all the Application components for MU9308. What version does the REM Update process report as installed currently for ifs-root, efs-system, etc. ? In any case, I believe your goal is to restore all the MU9308 components to their highest version number (fpga-emg = 1642; ifs-emg = 30; ifs-root = 1076; efs-system = 1076). --g

If you start Navigation and the updated database is not blocked after approximately 5 minutes, you either (1) have the correct FSC file installed for the updated database OR (2) the normal activation process is disabled on your MMI3G system by terminated the vdev-logvolmgr process 10 seconds after it creates file acios_db.ini for the database components.

With regard to the two Green Engineering Menu scripts to delete the nav database and delete the HDD nav partition, in most cases, the first script (delete nav databases) is sufficient, since it removes the contents of the /mnt/nav/db folder completely (but leaves the rest of the /mnt/nav paritition). Doing both scripts is redundant, since the second script reformats the entire /mnt/nav HDD partition (thereby removing everything stored under /mnt/nav). If you want to start a navdb update with an empty /mnt/nav/db folder, doing the first GEM script is sufficient. --g

@DrGER

yes,i have your unblocker script executed, and that's the reason why navi data isn't blocked after I reinstall maps(one really big THANKS for you speending your time and helping us with this) but my problem was that something in maps was brocked, for sure is my fault with few wrong attemps of activation and when we add my mistake in green menu when I was sure that car will stay without navi and other functions (almost bricked unit),it's important that on the end of all of this navi is in function (I hope that still working) most of all because car isn't mine and I will have big problems explain what i did.

about second part of delete navi data and navi partition, probably your right about that but I find some guide that say delete navi data, reboot, delete navi partition, reboot and then clean copy...maybe isn't neccecery but it's doing job as I expected, maybe is taking little time (it finished fast, all that take me let's say 10 minutes with reboots and waiting to reload again)

DrGER again thanks a lot,you save me with your instruction and of course you unblocker script,I try to run on the end of this your infoscript but didn't make it,script isn't started, maybe some problem with my unpacking and copying on SD.I will run script some day and post info log here that we can see how log looks like when navi works like it should...

also noticed that one member has same problems like I was (PATROCLOX or something similar),so my suggestion for him is to try what I did and with your unblocker script I almost sure that will back life in his navi...

Thanks for the information. I tried some things, and some things happened.

So first of all, when updating the firmware, I could not select user defined mode for some reason. However, the standard mode did choose to select the components you mentioned, and update them to the latest versions you mentioned. So that was a huge bonus. Woo hoo.

So then I checked the maps, and right enough, the streets were all visible. Brilliant. I started inputting destinations and things, made sure it could select appropriate routes etc... All seemed to be working. Then the Nav became blocked.

My guess is that when updating the firmware, this messed with your unblocker I ran yesterday, and so I re-ran your unblocker. Then I ran your updated mmi3ginfo script. Then I restarted the system. In that order. Once restarted, I was then able to use the maps again. I only played about for 5 mins here, so I will take the car for an actual run tomorrow to make sure it's genuinley unblocked.

Thanks for your help. Hopefully that's it finally working again. But I guess we will find out tomorrow for sure.

@Stewart M : Outstanding ! When you (successfully) updated the MU9308 software, it over-wrote my patch to disable the normal activation, hence the "blocked" message. You should be good-to-go for any subsequent navdb updates now.

And it looks like my wife & I were in your neighborhood 10 years ago -- four sunny days in Edinburgh in July (after stops in London & Leeds). Cheers ! --g

Good news for you...now you can put some new maps...

Also i hope that if is unlocked for 5+minutes then everything will be fine, in my case they work more then 10 minutes,

To be fair, the maps I put on there were the latest from last year, so will be up to date enough. I did download the 3.36.0 2023 maps though. But not sure if I want the pain of spending 3 hours installing them now, ha ha.

Glad you got yours fixed also. I should have picked this up again months ago, but was just too busy with other things. I'm not ready to sell the car yet and move on, but when I am, it's good to know that I don't have to try and figure this out then, ha ha.

@DrGER , Thanks for all your time and patience with not only myself, but everyone else here. I know for sure that without your help, I would have been really stuck. So thank you again. I really do appreciate your efforts.

@NoMyNaMe

No,there is nothing you have to do to enable script to work, you have to format SD fat32 and place unblocker files in root of SD (no hidden folders or anything else on card) check that you not placed rar file on SD (you need to unpack rar file and place files on SD without original rar)

Following DrGER recommendations about inserting the SD card a second time after the maps blocked message and yours over formatting FAT32 (making sure a good format was in place), the script ran successfully and maps are no longer blocked. I certainly blame the issue to the format of the SD card. (Banal thing)

Thanks Vlada33 and DrGER (and others) for all the patience supporting us.

Like I promised here is a working navi log, that anyone can check did all process and files are in place

Thanks for sharing this report, @Vlada33 .
Did you tell us the year and model your Audi ?
And if you have VCDS, can you show the part numbers for the J794 main unit listed in Address 5F ?
I ask about these because the /mnt/nav partition (which is a fixed size) is small, only about 24 GB:
Code:
Filesystem 1024-blocks Used Available Capacity Mounted on
...
/dev/hd0t77 24121548 23276969 844579 97% /mnt/nav/
With only MMI3G ECE 6.36.0 and one 5 MB map styles archive installed, the partition is 97% full (only 844 MB free). This is likely sufficient free space for the next few update cycles, but at some point in the future, could be a problem for MMI3G/HNav users (unless Harman-Becker takes measure to limit the total size of their MMI3G navdb updates). --g

Hello! MMI 3GH ....I updated to version 6.36.0 and firmware K0257_6D1 and got to activate the maps, but I can't solve the problem. I downloaded MMI3G-Navdb-Unblocker from DrGER, but when I insert the card, ABORT appears. What could I do to solve the problem? Thank you!

@vasilepitaru67 : My navdb-unblocker ZIP is not installed with the Red Engineering Menu -- the ZIP file contains a script that runs from a FAT32 SD card. So, format a full-size SD card as FAT32 and extract the ZIP file to the SD card directly. Then, when you get the "nav data is blocked message", insert the SD into either slot, follow the screen prompts, and reboot the MMI.

Before you run the unblocker script, can you get a proper screen shot of the "blocked" message and post here: with "blocked" message on the screen, insert FAT32 SD card in slot 1, wait 5 seconds, then press the << and >> buttons at the same time until the 4 console LEDs flash as described here: http://mr-fix.info/audi-mmi-3g-screenshots-mode/
If you can get screen shots of the Red Engineering Menu screen with the Train name
and the Setup > Software version screen, that would be great, too. I don't have any of these for my MMI3G/3GP documentation. --g

Thank you very much for the answer and explanations! I was very busy with other activities and didn't have time to check your answer, so I apologize for that. I formatted the SD card in FAT 32, just like when I installed the firmware and the maps, but I will follow your instructions and come back with the result.
Thank you very much for your time and explanations.(y)

I followed the instructions given by you and managed to activate the maps. Now everything is ok, I hope it will continue to work. Thank you DrGER, all my respect and consideration! (y)
