Well done, @mj131. That's one way to do without swapping to 3G+ hardware. I found this thread through Lauri0112. This custom software looks great that I'm interested to upgrade MMI using this custom software. My A4 B8 MMI has HNav_EU_K0257_6_D1, so it should be possible. I can provide feedback/pictures.

Update: Everything is working like it should. Installed 2023 maps yesterday and no problems so far. With the only exception of the drive select problem mentioned previously. Anybody else had that issue or am I the first one? Anyway, now I can drive on the highway blasting John Williams Jurassic park orchestra with video.

The small miscellaneous issues that were encountered by some, such as wrong naming in the Audi Drive Select are
caused by protocol incompatibility between the 3G+ and the rest of the car modules, it would also happen if you were to put an actual 3g+ unit in the car.
That being said, the fixes are underway, because the goal is a complete 100% compatibility!

I am not sure if this was possible before but, got a 256gb microsd card working as my music collection, formatted as fat32 obviously as exfat is not recognized.

Other thing I did not know .m3u files(mp3 playlists) work

Thought I'd post an update after a few weeks of having done the conversion.

Love it. It works flawlessly and looks so much better than the old 3G version and I'm pleased as punch that I made the at 1st daunting leap into the unknown.

@mj131 Was an immense help and couldn't have been more patient and supportive in the whole process and went above and beyond to do everything to make the few bits that needed tweaks work.

The only problems was where I had upgraded things in my car and were missed on the upgrade.

i.e

Footwell lights controls not on MMI Screen. (Fixed)
Heater temp displaying on the MMI screen. (Fixed)
Rear parking sensor graphics appearing. then disappearing. (being worked on)
Battery level on MMI Screen (being worked on?)

All of which I enabled myself.

Funnily enough the VIM didn't need reapplying which I was very happy about.

He's still working on this and he will always be the man as far as I'm concerned for making this possible.

An incredible feat to modify the software and make it possible to update the old 3G to 3GP.

Loving the fact that I can now play video files from my SD Card and the Nav upgrades from 3G to 3GP are worth it alone.

Really couldn't be happier.

Technically those two things never worked on stock MMI3G+.
Cars that dont have front and read PDC dont have OPS as standard. Yes old MMI3 basic and high did allowed this to be active but that not correct actually as front sensors are shown too.
Battery level .. this was the most inaccurate thing in MMI, it shows lets say 60% and you try to start the car ... then you see it drops to 10%. The thing is you should not believe to that and if it was to me i was not going to waste time to try bring that in.

Gentlemen, I am a week after the modification and I must say that it is a great job... great respect for mj131... as of today, Idealmie works in my car... initially, for a few days there was a problem like after the installation of MMI 3GP, i.e. no visualization of the sensors parking, but it was quickly repaired... today I can confidently say that if you have mmi3gh, don't wait, gentlemen, because it's a waste of time for this appearance and function... I just hope that mi131, having such knowledge and capabilities, will do something else for our cars... .

Another update,

Mj fixed the reverse sensors graphics only briefly flashing up, they now work perfectly, a quick 20 min update and it was done.

This keeps getting better and better.
