I do have a custom online traffic server, which can work either using original tpeg protocol (for countries that do have tmc tables) or my own modified version of it, which can pinpoint any location on the world map with precision.
Using it, there is an infinite amount of dynamic POI's that could be generated.

I can confirm that there are multiple partners at the moment 2 in Czech Republic, 1 Slovakia, 3 in Poland. I think MJ switched to this method because of time consuming installation with people who have never updated MMI unit... Partners give him VINs, he makes the firmware for specific car and then send it to his partners, they pay him his part of the deal, and they take care of the installation. Pros much faster processing time, cons at the end of the day everything is pricier because more people are involved in the process.

Hey guys,

After a super long, 1 year plus development 'journey', there are finally some great news to be shared.
A custom software that is able to turn any MMI 3G High unit into 3G+ is now complete!

If you have MMI where the version starts with HNav, you are in luck!

After the multimedia unit becomes 3G+, it will have:

1. Bluetooth music, not just calls. These will also display track names on MMI and on the cluster.​

2. Ability to play video from SD card.​

3. Better, more recent & beautiful interface.​

But wait! Doesn't MMI 3G+ have a different hardware?

Yes indeed it does, and that's the whole point. This special software is able to run MMI 3G+ code on the MMI 3G High hardware.​

There are, however, some small downsides:​

1. MMI 3G High has only 40GB hard drive space (versus 60GB), this means, your jukebox size will be reduced.​

2. MMI 3G High has no WiFi module, therefore WiFi will not be available.​

Is that it? No more downsides?

Yes, that is it! Every other feature works just like an original 3G+ unit.​

Do you have a video?

Yes! However, the video is quite long, and may be a bit boring to watch.​

It shows a full conversion being done to a A6 C6 car, however, the car model here does not matter, as all cars that have MMI 3G High from the factory are supported.​

The procedure looks a bit complicated..

The video shows a procedure from an early development/release version of the software.​

In the current version, there are pretty much no steps and or specialist tools required, apart from inserting an sd card and clicking few buttons in the engineering menu.​

Sure! That is the point of this thread!​

If you are passionate about your car and want to give it a little upgrade, this is a perfect opportunity.​

I am looking for more users outside of my country to test this software and provide feedback/suggestions.​

Btw it's VIN locked to the cars spec so files would not work or potentially brick your MMI.

Hey guys, long time no see eh?
It's nice to see so much interest in this project, especially after all this time I've spent developing it.
Unfortunately, my life has got super busy to the point where I have barely any time to further pursue these hobby/passion projects of mine, however, that does not mean that what has been completed so far has to go to a waste. I am actively looking for ways to pass my work and knowledge to someone who would carry on what I've started.

In the ideal world, I would love to release it all for free so that everyone could upgrade their units and enjoy it, however, as my past experience have showed me, this would just open up a way for a lot of 'garages' to simply profit from my work - with no benefit for the end user.
Otherwise, providing each upgrade for free (but uniquely locked to the car) comes at a great cost of time for me - time that I unfortunately do not have anymore (or time that could be rather spent on further development).

So is there any way to get the upgrade nowadays?
Yes, if you don't mind a small donation for my time spent - write me a PM and include the full VCDS/OBD11 scan of your car and I will respond with the further details. It might take me some time to catch up with all the PM's, but I will try to respond on here regularly.

What about free upgrade, no longer possible?
Unfortunately, due to lack of time, volume of requests, amount of abuse (For example I've had people ask for upgrade just to increase the resale value of their car!) I am currently unable to offer it for free.
However, an exception can be made if you are long time member of A5OC forums and have made useful contributions to these forums. Giving back to the community is something I'd love to do.

Some garage X offers this upgrade locally, should I go for it instead?
I do provide this upgrade to a bunch of garages who install it locally (and thus save me time), but they have their own, local customer base, as well as their own pricing.
This thread should definitely not turn into advertisement for those.
