just remember to protect the points that you disconnect (under the floor in the boot next to the battery)

 

Surely it will make it constantly loud? This would pee me off. Love the idea of loud start up, I'm fortunate enough to have a non OEM exhaust which really booms on start up.

 

OEM Sport exhaust and not too loud - do put the pipe back on for long family journeys

 

Any chance of a picture of where you disconnect these vacuum lines?

I'm 2 days new to my used S5, just to make sure I'm not missing anything doing this will give a better exhaust note?

I have a 2008 and haven't seen the option of changing car modes yet (but I'm still learning the MMI and reading the manuals).

 

It's just on the RS5, it has two exhaust tones depending on the drive select mode it's in.

 

It isn't actually louder than my exhaust. It's just a different tone. Damn.

 

Thanks the photos were a fantastic help. I was prep aired to do it at the exhaust. The rear boot was a much better location. Washable to seal off both points with rubber plugs. Car sounds awesome with the factory note deeper and louder. Thanks again everyone.

Has anyone in the UK replaced the centre exhaust box with an X pipe or through pipes ?
I see they're available as part on the HMS kit but wondered if this might have been tried yet on it's own to enhance the sound ?

 

I'm not from the UK however I have deleted the center box on mine and replaced it with straight through pipes. The sound gets loud and raspy as hell. I liked it

where is the best place to get the HMS x pipes asap? as i dont want to replace the whole exhaust system just the center piece.... i wonder what it will sound like any idea on price for the HMS x pipe im going nurburgring next month so would be good to try out on track

 

I have a custom made exhaust which deleted the centre box and mine sounds very loud on start up and also incredible when pressing on. It reminds me of a C63.

At the last RS meet i went to I had a large crowd round my car listening most of whom stated they had extreme exhaust envy.

After several attempts to find a good cap to seal the opened pipes up with - these have worked a treat:

PCWA-0048-013 (4.8mm) for the smaller diameter fixed vacuum line (bottom one)
PCWA-0087-013 (8.7mm) for the larger diameter rubber vacuum line (top one)

Hi, I saw you helped the other guy out shipping the flexicaps. What was the total shipping costs? I'm in NY close to the other member in PA. BTW, where exactly is this vacuum hose located? I have the exhaust option on my RS, do you know if this will make a difference? Thanks,
