@HyperDarius it is normally recommended that the MMI is updated before a map update, but your MMI is 0900 and there's only 1 update to that level - 0942. So, in your case, you probably don't need to do that update and can just update the maps.

HOWEVER; your map level is very strange. The EUR maps from that era - 2016 - are 8R0060884CR ECE 6.21.2 [2015/2016] and 8R0051884DF ECE 6.22.4 [2016]. I can't find any reference to the ...CT part number version you quote and I don't recognise the descriptor 'LA' or the version '5.66.2'! Pehaps someone else can indicate what these are?

Or did you or someone else try updating the map level?

Just discovered that the ...CT suffix part number is for the maps for Argentina, Brazil, Chile & Turkey! So how did that happen on a car with EUR firmware?

There are no map updates for that region as far as I am aware and moving to the EUR maps in this thread may need some extra work beyond just running the update.

I'm sure someone will explain what you need to do ...

Hi Julian,
Thanks for your kind reply. I will try to update the map without updating the firmware tomorrow.
Regarding the database doubts, I can tell you that the Q3 was owned by a dear friend of mine who was working in Brazil at the time and bought it there. In 2018, when she returned to Italy, she took it to an Audi dealership to have it updated, but in the end she did nothing. I bought the car from her but never used the maps because I have the CarPlay module. The other day I forgot my cell phone at home and found myself in open countryside due to a detour, and I realized that the original navi could always come in handy.
Thanks again for your help.

@HyperDarius & @JulianHicks -- The Q3 sold in Brazil will have a RoW main unit, hence, the EU software. Changing the region from LA to EU should be relatively simple, as the EEPROM language list is already correct (that is, includes Italian, as per the picture of the screen). In this case, though, @HyperDarius will want to use the Green Engineering Menu (GEM) to delete the current Nav Database (but NOT the HDD partition), because you really don't want (or need) to have the old Latin America (LA) region database stored in the HDD Nav partition. You might need to use the GEM to change the internal region from LA to EU (but maybe not, if this comes from the navdb PKG file).

Regarding the system software, @JulianHicks is correct: P0900 is sufficient to run updated nav databases correctly.

BTW, it is a good thing you're not trying to update the LA region navdb -- ROW2 releases are impossible to find online. --g

We know that Error code 140 likely means out of space on the HDD and Error code 160 means the source file is not found on the SD card, so using "Retry" on these will not work, generally. We don't much about Error code 146, so you should try "Retry" a few times before cancelling the update process.

Also: use only full-size, high quality SD cards (Samsung, Sandisk) for MMI updates. And: you might try updating from SD Slot 2. --g
Trank you for your answer. I alredy tryed to retry several times and the microSD is a Samsung Class 10 64GB. I couldn't resolve the issue but, I just have finished the update to the 2021 version that is posted in the first page with no issues. Perhaps the problem was because the 2023 version is only around 20 GB, while the 2021 version is 36 GB, and my car does not like whatever they have reduced in the 2023 version.

Hi everyone,
I have a Q3 2016 with HN+R_EU_AU_P0900 firmware. After doing some research, I came across this forum that explains how to accurately perform updates. My question is, can I update the maps without updating the firmware? If it can be of use, the navigation database is: 8R0060884CT LA 5.66.2
Thanks in advance
I think that yes, I updated from the P0513 version my A5. Nevertheless, read the Q&A section, there I think that it is explained.

@davidtrix11 -- It is not likely your Error 146 is due to the size of the update. The HDD fitted in EU/RoW MMI3GP main units is 80 GB; but if your A5 was imported from US, that would be a problem, since the HDD nav partition is too small for the EU nav database. Anyway, others have reported problems with the EU 6.36.0 update, and use 6.35.1, instead. --g

So, I'm going to delete the maps via GEM. Exactly as you said, I won't update the LA maps, I just want to install the EU maps. Thanks a lot for the support, I'll update you as soon as I do.

@davidtrix11 You must have had some missing data on your 2023 files. I've just looked up the size of the 3GPlus map files [with the 3GHigh files removed] and their size is a total of 26.2GB.

Your figures for the 2021 files must include the 3GHigh files and the 3GPlus files as the total size of 3GHigh or 3GPlus on their own are both less than 32GB ...

Aug 9 Edit :
The download for 6.36.0 unzips to 37.9GB. 9.7GB of this is shared between 3GHigh and 3GPlus; 3GHigh files add up to 21.3GB - 3GPlus files add up to 26.2GB.

@sbudak -- You would have needed to run the K0942 update as user-defined and selected all the MU9411 subparts for a proper full update (if even the REM Update process would all the selections). To be honest, we don't have much experience with your later Q3 MMI 3G+ systems. Run the MMI info script as you have time before doing anything else with the system software. Note also that the REM Update Logging function will have a log of what was updated when you tried to "update" your P1001 system to K0942. I think the selection path is REM > Update > Logging > (select K0942) -- Choose "Device selection" to review what was selected or "Device summary" to review the update status of selected "devices".
And a favor from you as we try to get this resolved. Insert a FAT32 SD card in slot 1 and capture screenshot PNG files by pressing & holding the [|<<] and [>>|] buttons until the four soft key LEDs start to flash (about 4-5 seconds). Post the REM start screen with Train name & Version number, and the MMI Setup > Version information screen. --g
I have run the info script, how would you like me to share it ?

Great find and instructions.

Before I start my update this weekend, could I double check everything as I am usually unlucky with fixing things.

My MMI seems to be:
HN+EU_AU3G_P0530
Nav. Database 8R0060884AH ECE 5.13.8

Its an Audi A5 2012 B8.5

My plan is to upgrade directly to "HN+_EU_AU3G_K_0942 - Stock firmware" - I dont think my car anywhere says BOSE or B&O but will check again when running the upgrade to see if it has any option for BOSE and B&O and install the modified version.

Questions:
1) Any easy way to check if I have B&O or Bose? No markings on speakers
2) Where is the green menu script that I can download with SD Card? Should this be the first thing I do?
3) I have not driven the car that much (remains untaxed as awaiting transfer), however, the cars location was wrong when I got it (was showing me in Spain whereas I was in UK). I played around with it in presentation mode and several options and got it to work. Drove car to friends house (without using or checking if location is working). After a day I realised to check the location and found that its show me just a bit further from original location and no where close to where car is parked now.
3.1) Shall I wait until I drive the car around to make sure location is working before I update?
3.2) Is there any known error where location might not update?
3.3) How can I reset location correctly so I can drive car around a bit in the street to see if it updates

Please let me know if you see anything above or anything else that I need to think of before I brick the system.

I have no experience of Navigation showing the wrong location, but you have a very old 2012 version of MMI and maybe there was a bug in that version.

I would suggest you perform your MMI & Map update in several steps:
1) Perform a 'trial update' of your MMI in 'Standard Mode' by stopping at the stage where the 'Red Screens' show the car's components with Y, S or N against them. If you scroll up and down you can see which components are in your car and whether or not they will be updated. If you have a Bose or B&O and it's labelled "N", then the firmware won't be updated and you're 'good to go'. Only if you have "S" or "Y" would you need to consider 'User Mode' and the Green Menu.
2) Once resolved, perform an MMI update to 0942, which should take about 30 minutes as you have an 'old' version which may have many updates.
3) Wait a day or two to see that the MMI at the new level performs as expected. [You may see your map issue resolved at this stage].
4) Consider DrGer's 'unblocker' rather than one of the several different 'activators'. [I think I'm right in saying that this stage can be performed BEFORE the map update].
5) Perform a map update - this will take about 90 minutes.

Thank you so much. I have updated the MMI with 0942 successfully. There were no B&O or Bose speakers. Drove around for 5-10 min but seems like it does not want to update. I have used the presentation mode to align the mapps but they keep going straight so it kinda points that my GPS is broken maybe?
Question: When you say unblocker is that the green menu activation script in the first post of this thread?

I have an issue with firmware update Audi Q7, tried both HN+EU_AU3G_K0900[8R0906961EB] and HN+EU_AU3G_K0942[8R0906961FC]. It gives me an error - menu unit 9307, current update 9498 error. My software version is HNav_EU_P0022_D1, Nav. database version: 8R0060884E_ECE 5.8.5, I have MMI 3G Plus

Sorry; no you don't have 3GPlus, "HNAV..." shows us that you have 3GHigh. You need this thread instead for MMI updates...

Hi people,
New tot he forum . I have just done the map updated and
Need some help... I think something went wrong ... :(

And yes! I have searched this and other forums for solutions but what I found did not solve the problem...

I own Audi A7 2012 with mmi 3GP

This is what I had before the updated:
HN+R_EU_AU_P1001
nav 8R0060884AH ECE 5.13.8

I wanted to upgrade just the maps and after a bit of research I have burn the nav files from fist post ( 6.36.0) to 32GB SD card. After a hour and half all finish and was looking okay so I just download the Vlasoff maps activation and run it . strangely it didn't ask my to press anything in the Red menu ( it just restart ) and now the problem . I'm not able to start the navigation. I can go to it, search for address but once I press start is just stay on the screen with the different road options . Any advice it will much appreciated.

I'm thinking about to try to reinstall everything but now the questions are :
do I need to delete everything on the HHD from the green menu ?
Do I need to try a older version ?
Do I need to reinstall the activator ?

Thank you

@Martin_audia7 -- The Vlasoff (and similar) script can break the MMI system if mis-applied. I reworked the method discovered by Keldo so that it can be applied to all MMI3G/MMI3GP systems; the script is here: GitHub - DrGER2/MMI3G-Navdb-Unblocker: Patch MMI3G/3GP systems to unblock access to an updated navigation database.

I recommend strongly that the scripts attributed to Vlasoff NOT be used to unblock nav data on MMI3GP systems.

Note also that this is an SD card script, NOT a software update package (at least not currently). --g

Thank you for the reply DrGER
I'll give a try later .
What do you recommend me to do in my situation . I'm thinking about cleaning the HDD from the green Menu and then try again , this time with your script . Is there a way to reverse the previous script ( Vlasoff ) and save myself 2 hours of new installation ? Thank you
