@dativus -- I am responding to our conversation here so that other members of the community can benefit from this information.

You use the VMware Workstation Player software to run the QNX VM run-time image; VMware offers the free player software for Windows 10/11 and Linux here: https://www.vmware.com/products/workstation-player/workstation-player-evaluation.html (choose either the Windows or Linux versions at the bottom of the page).

You can find the QNX 6.5.0SP1 VM run-time image HERE.

We discuss using the VM to repartition/format HDDs in several forum threads that you should review, including:

The MMI3GP system software expects to find a properly partitioned and formatted HDD. I haven't seen any GEM screens that will do this on a running system.

You can use a Windows PC to confirm that a MMI3GP HDD has a partition setup, but Windows does not know about QNX native partitions and filesystems, so Windows will not report on the HDD correctly. You need the QNX VM to investigate the HDD properly.

Regarding 60 GB or 80 GB HDDs in MMI3GP systems, that seems to be a matter of convenience. We know that a properly partitioned 60 GB will allow the installation of the ECE 6.36.0 nav database (but maybe not any future updates if the database size increases significantly). I updated my mkmmi3gphdd2 script to accept a NAV partition size (in cylinders) for 60 GB HDDs from the command line. The updated script is posted to my GitHub space. --g

HI all, I managed to flash the firmware HN+_EU_AU3G_K0942 updated the maps Map 6.36.0 8R0051884KL activated and removed most errors. I cant get rid off code 01043 - Control Module; Incorrect Software Version in my 56 radio module. (so not in 5F) i am not sure if this happend after the update but i think so. (i should notice i replaced my headunit mmi 3g low to a plus recent) can someone advice me what i can do or check. I have genuine VCDS. (car is a Audi q5 2015)

Hi All,

Just bought a second hand A4 B8. I would like to upgrade the MMI but failed.
With Media version HN+_EU_AU3G_P0767 and Nav. database version 8R0060884BK ECE 6.17.3.

I have download the "HN+_EU_AU3G_K_0942 - Stock firmware" as FW, but it shows me "the medium is currently unavailable" on the screen.
Shall I try with "HN+_EU_AU3G_K_0900 - Stock firmware" instead?

Also if I would like to update the Nav database, do I need to delete any folders or re-edit any files?

Please I need some help and suggestions.

@jc2991 -- K0942 is correct for your UK A4. Two things: start with a new FAT32 format on your SD card and extract the archive (RAR or ZIP) to the SD card directly so the file "metainfo2.txt" is in the top/root directory/folder (NOT in a sub dir/folder). "The medium is currently unavailable" means the Red Engineering Update process cannot find file "metainfo2.txt" in the top/root dir/folder. --g

Hey DrGER, Ive got a 32G SD card in FAT32 format, and I extracted everything to the card directly without change anything. Could you please send me a screenshot of your folder?

@jc2991 -- I use a terminal window on a Linux desktop to prepare my MMI3GP media, so that's not likely to help you. This particular problem is discussed frequently in this thread -- you are encouraged to review it. But, really, if file "metainfo2.txt" is not in the top/root folder/directory of the SD card, it's likely in a sub-folder/directory of the extracted RAR/ZIP archive. --g
