First of all. Thank your for the huge effort congo and every one else that contributed to the repositories for MMI updates.

Now I have a A8 D4 MMI 3GP with Bang & Olufsen soundsystem. Following the advice of the manuel I wanted to skip the update for the soundsystem, as suggested Bose also does. Now when i didn't see the same file as mentioned in the guide for Bose, i was afraid to remove anything else since I wasn't certain it was the right file.
I went ahead and did a full install anyway. My B&O continues to play without any issues at all. So for me it was safe to do the install without skipping soundsystem.

But for Bang & Olufsen soundsystem the file to skip would be named BO_D4

Question:
In Navi setting Google Earth is greyed out. I take it as the update for google earth failed and I'll have to install only the gemmi file?

Pro tip: The reset MMI key combination for A8 is: Tone+right corner+control knob.

Try to reinstall the gemmi component.

p.s. I will update the firmware's ... soon to exclude the Sound System package, to enable the green menu and to allow "User Defined Mode" w/o the need to go thru "Green Menu".

Extract only the first one - 001
So I'm still helpless/hopeless:
I was expecting doing a 7z extract to result in lots of files that I'd copy to the SD card (and I'd do that 20 times for the set of .7z.00n files on mega)
but when I extract I just get one file....So I'm just going from a .7z.00n file to a .7z file - how do I get to the "lots of files"?

Thanks

@congo
Thanks a lot, buddy! :)
@Kevblack
Make sure all the files you've downloaded are stored in the same folder. Extract file xxxx.7z.001 - The rest will automatically extract as well.

Just to make sure, you are using a windows pc right?

@btedk
Thanks so much
That was it, I was trying to extract the files as each one was downloaded so I did not have them all together in the same folder....

Once I got all of them downloaded, placed together and extracted the first all proceeded to extract OK.

overeagerness !

nice... I'll try to look around for the version to A8.
Any idea with regards to the changes from k900 to k942?

After scrolling some russian sites this is what seems to been changed:
- IFS-EMG
- IFS-ROOT
- MUIOC V850 chip + loader
- TMC CONFIG

Yo Congo, i've updated firmware to the latest k0900, there is nothing different from 612 at all lol. I was wondering if you had the time to upload aus maps by any chance? Cheers

I went through the updates sequentially each time user defined and have not found bose or BO data to exclude... Either way, my b&o still works fine

Ok think I'm all set.....

900 firmware ready on 40mbps SD card.

Question: I'm not clear on ignition state. Do I just put the key in the ignition or should the ignition be on in order to run the firmware update?

Same for maps update?

Want to ensure it does not somehow auto switch off halfway through update

Will connect charger as assume stopping halfway through a firmware update could be a catastrophe even though I think my charge level is good....

Appreciate the time and support especially. @congo....

OK started well - firmware updated I went straight from 5xx (cant remember exact no) to 900 without any interim steps.
All fine - (though when the screens switch to German for a while during the processI wondered!)
Green menu reactivated....so all ready...

BUT
Before I did the maps I wanted to finally check a few things:

What's the latest thinking on deleting the old Map and partition? In the thread some people seem to and some not.....

In the manual it says "MU software should be 900 by now"
In my engineering menu it now says "MU Software: 0941" - I assume that's OK?

I wanted to check the exact activator steps as I'm not clear from the manual...
And there's lots of red text about bricking the mmi unit!
I think it is:
Once maps are fully installed (i.e. process followed to the point when "cancel documentation" has been clicked)
Turn Ignition on
insert SD card with activator on it into slot 1
wait around 15 seconds
then MMI will switch off and reboot
As it reboots remove the SD card
Nav should now work
Go for a drive so GPS picks up location
Use VCDS to clear error codes
Relax

Thanks again for the support.
