Hello Guys..... I would really appreciate some help on this topic. I have an A4 2013 import from Japan. I live in the caribbean and as such the radio frequency bandwidth is different from Japans. I was doing some reading and from what I gathered I believe that if i upgrade/change my firmware the k-box would also update so as to allow me to get radio frequency bandwidth the same as the USA. Can anyone confirm this?

Also I have the following installed in the car currently

HN+JP_AU3G_P0271
NAV DATABASE: 7614

I dont think there are maps available for Trinidad and Tobago.... so I dont care too much for the maps. But I would like to listen to the radio. Will the links you guys have in this post work with my car to update the MMI?

Firmware update

Hi guys,

Congo, I'm a little confused as to the firmware updates, I can see that the maps can be update for the MMI 3G High which I have but what about the firmware? At the moment my version information is as follows:

Software version: HNav_EU_K0257_5D1
Nav. database version: 8R0060884CH ECE 6.20.4

Would I still be able to update my firmware to these ones in here?

Thanks

AK

Hi all.

I have a 2013 S5 sportback, my f/w version is currently:

HN+_EU_AU3G_P0612 - maps appear to be ECE 6.15.5

I tried to upgrade the f/w to 614 but got an error screen in German - something about the telephone. I am thinking this is because my car has no Sim slot so I'm trying the next version - 767 now.

What's the correct latest f/w for me to install - 0900 or the DAB one?

Also questions about activation using generic script. Will I lose TCM traffic updates (traffic info over FM radio that satnav uses to reroute automatically) by activating using a generic script? I don't have AudiConnect as I've got an incompatible phone (Apple).

Big thanks to Congo for the info pack! Also to Adrian E who helped me activate TPMS in my car over the weekend!

Cheers

614 only for cars with sim, before you can install 614 you should have installed fw 612. but if you upgrade to 767 and after that to 900 there wont be a problem, K900 is the latest for your car :wink2:

Did you have an active bluetooth pairing when you tried to run the firmware update? If so, go into phone settings and switch bluetooth off on the car before trying to run again. For the older setup it's always recommended to unplug anything not required during the update and to switch bluetooth off in case the module requires an update.

I'm pretty sure 0900 is the latest and the DAB update is a very specific one, possibly for early facelift cars? Not an expert on these setups!

No probs on doing TPMS :) much more straightforward than the last one I did!

Cheers for the extra info guys.

My car was 612 to start with and I went -> 0767 -> 0900 with no issues (apart from apparently losing the green hidden menu that was kindly activated for me last weekend (I think - still need to check the button combo - I don't have a Setup button so I think it should be Menu + Car -> hold for 5+ seconds).

Adrian - I turned off bluetooth before starting the f/w updates - but only to save battery. As mentioned above the 0614 f/w won't install on cars with no SIM card slot (like mine :)

I'm going to d/l the maps packages now and extract them to my SD card. Still unsure about the activation but I'll get the maps updated first!

Cheers

Thanks Congo! Any instructions for that green menu package? I see there are a few scripts there. As a programmer I imagine 'run.sh' is a key one! There's no manifest file in that zip - how should I extract it into the card?

Also still a bit confused about which activation to use - there's one in with the maps link that has a manifest but the version appears to be 0257 - I.e. For 3G not 3GP (0900). The other one (linked separately in your OP doesn't appear to have a manifest file. I'm using the mail.ru links.

I'll probably (try to) update the maps tomorrow and then activate as and when I can after that. Just got the maps extracted to an SD card this evening.

Cheers

Don't use the activator that is with the map, it is for basic nav. You don't see metafile2.txt because it is not a standard script. Place all files in root of the SD. The file copie_scr.sh is obfuscated but all it does is to call the run.sh. Start the car (ignition on, engine on of off) wait for 2 min, remove all SD cards from the MMI and put the card with the activator(card should not be write protected!). Wait another 2 min and remove the card then reboot the MMI(you will see in the manual how to do that).

OK!

Map install took about 1hour and 30 minutes give or take. Took a while for it to realise that it was not activated afterwards which threw me a bit. I could see the updated version information and was able to use the nav system for about 5 minutes before it locked itself down. It thinks I am in Bulgaria (with you I guess Congo?) still so guess I need to drive it for the location to update! That's happened to us after long ferry crossings before so I am not too worried. One thing that was odd was that N/S were reversed when it restarted so the maps were upside down for a bit but that sorted itself after a MMI reboot.

I also activated the maps fine - the MMI reboot happened automatically. Also re-activated my green menu but it was a bit reluctant to load it. Strangely - not sure if it had anything to do with it - turning the A/C off allowed it to appear. Even the engineering menu wasn't popping up. Maybe there was something else going on behind the scenes. Just a point I noted - when the Green menu script was running the MMI splash showed a Q5 logo and some strange text (in Bulgarian I guess)? I was a bit concerned that nothing was happening - waited 5 minutes and started pushing buttons and after a few more minutes (screen disappeared and looked like nothing was happening) rebooted MMI and got the menu to appear.

Got to give it a run now as I got a low battery warning just as I completed. I made the menu changes to enable the battery level meter but that's not showing yet so I'll give it a run and see how things go. I'll double check my changes but it's only two items that need changing so that should be simple to get enabled.

Massive thanks to Congo and Adrian for putting together a simple to follow guide for this. If anyone wants guidance on updating an A5/S5 2013 with 3GP (or similar) I'm happy to help as I am quite computer savvy and some steps may not be completely obvious.

Cheers

That's odd, the location is not in the map ... the other part is normal - you should take it for a drive 1-2km, maybe i should put that in the manual :)

It's not Bulgarian it's Russian :) That's also needs translating as it scares people that do not understand Cyrillic :)
Nothing to worry about though.

Here is the translated version.
Green menu activation

If you tell me which steps needs clarification i could try to fix it in next version :)
