Is this supposed to be connected?

I pulled the back deck lid apart this weekend to clean up some wiring for the sub and noticed this plug not connected to anything. I think its going to the antenna and not sure what its supposed to be plugged in to, if anything. I also noticed a brown plug on in the right side trunk cubby near were the fuse bank is located. not sure if Audi makes one harness for all lines of cars and adds devices as needed per build or if im missing something.

From what I can tell that should be connected to the 'shark fin' style aerial on the roof, otherwise I'm not sure if it's just left over if you don't have that feature.

I dont see what its supposed to connect to on the other end. I agree that its a lead from the shark fin antenna, but its missing the other connection that goes to...? When i google the number, it comes up as Xm radio, but that works fine. weird.

If it is just an aerial connection, I guess it would work without being connected, just with crap signal. Hoping someone else can reveal where the other end might be hiding. You do have the shark fin right?

That's correct, i do have the fin. Also might be worth noting that i have the B&O sound system if that makes a difference.

I have the same and plan to go digging actually to replace my sub. I'll let you know what I find, and if mine is connected to something too.

Connected to something, quite what I don't know. Still more digging to go, will let you know if I find any more. Seems to go into the cubby hole on the right side of the boot

Dang, looks like i need to go hunting for the other end of the plug.

I couldn't find anything further down the line without ripping the whole carpet out the boot. Maybe list your car extras and I'll compare with mine. See what's different, could figure out what it is that way? For instance do you have nav & phone prep? Google implies it's for those bits.

I have nav, phone, satellite radio and i think thats it. Would you mind snapping a shot of the passengers side cubby in the trunk? I see another connection thats not plugged in and another cable that looks as if was added after the car was built. Really weird.

I can take a look a little later, all reassembled ready for the week now. I'll try and remember tomorrow evening if I get time.
Is it a rather thin pair of wires? I have something like that, they're connected to the tracker.

Haven't had time to grab a picture, but from what I can see it looks like it might belong below the green plug? What it actually is, I have no idea

My research tells me both of those are aerial related. Since you have satellite radio, maybe they're for standard, which is now defunct?
Though I can only find the odd vague reference to the purple one being for GSM and the light blue for GPS. I know these still function for you, but you might not be getting the best signal if that's what is going on here.
I think your best bet here might just be asking the garage to take a peek at your next service. Whatever it is, it doesn't seem safety or performance critical.

Thanks and were on the same track. The gray plug doesn't fit the slot that opens in the trunk and the purple one is no where to be found. It's rather weird for sure.

But where has the other end gone???
(insert x-files theme here)

My bet is the shark fin was removed or replaced for some reason and not fitted properly. Maybe for a repaint or something?

Defiantly not a repaint and the harness looks to be still in tack from Audi. I need to find an online breakdown of the wiring.
