thetoothdoc - many thanks.

Racks - go see the cab roof wear post, or pm magi........

they are all shite.

LOL, is that me included! ;-)

I have spoken with Molle personally and sorry to hear he has been given the wear & tear shite too.

We still need to get as many complaints to Audi as possible, they have to look into the problem every 5 cases. The problem now is the precedent has now been set and we need to find a way to beat it.

Magi, just let me know if there is anything else we can do to help. There are quite a few A5 cabs around where I live, I have even thought about making a flyer to put under the wipers. Directing them to this site.

I am just not happy with this issue when other manufacturers of cabs 3x the age don't have wear marks.

Great idea, I did get some A5OC cards with the same intention but they are not quite big enough to get the message on. I'll try to see if I can come up with something, but if there is anyone with a talent for this type of thing let us know.

How about a freedom of information act request to Audi requesting numbers of complaints about roof wear ?

Roof update , post treatment looks pretty much the same . Have yet to be able to get in contact with service dept to clarify anything .
I have e mailed a request to Audi CS requesting FOI info on the number of complaints .

Lets see if this helps !

Guys,

I have come up with a draft flyer which hopefully will draw more owners to the thread and the cause.

I‘ve attached a photo as I cannot paste a link because at this stage it is a draft order.
For your info the wording is:

We are a group of Audi A/S5 cabriolet owners who are concerned about the wearing to the roof which I note you have too. Please take a look at a thread on the A5OC, it’s free, and you don’t need to register to read our comments. Search A5OC, click FORUM, then A5 General Q & A, at the top you will find ‘cab roof wear’

If anyone has any comments/changes it would be great to hear them?.

I intend –once I have approval to use the logo- to get 100 printed, size 139 x 107mm. They also have the option to put more information on the reverse but I’m not sure it needs it?.

When the order is placed I will need about 8-9 UK members to give me their addresses (by PM) so I can post some out for them to put on cars with the wear.

Thoughts?

Possibly worth putting full web address ? ( ww.A5OC.com )Had a call from Audi CS , FOI requests are only for gov/nhs bodies etc so they are not obliged to give the info and so they wont .
But have passed the complaint on again to a CS manager .

The FCC has a form on FOIA | FCC.gov to request information. Cost is minimum of 25$.

I'll look at this more when I get home. Might or might not be able to get better information than contacting Audi directly. Does anyone have any experience with getting information from the FCC to know if it's worth spending 25$ on them attempting to find the information?

Interesting that I received this in the post today, hope you can read it.

The small print at the bottom is: cabriolet cleaning kit part number OOAO96326020 and it was sent from my local Audi dealership.

I can’t seem to find a way to post this photo other than a thumbnail so I’ve typed it out!

During the cold winter months, you may find yourself using your cabriolet roof a little less. But it’s still important to open and close it regularly to ensure it continues to run smoothly. It’s just one of the simple steps you can take to keep your car’s fabric roof in the best possible condition.

While washing your car, you can also clean your soft top with a soft sponge and plain water – brushing from front to back with the grain of the fabric. Remove bird lime from the fabric immediately and, if the surface is very dirty or stained, you may also need to brush it clean. Once you’ve finished, leave the roof to dry naturally, as chamois cloths are not suitable for drying soft tops. Avoid using high-pressure washers, solvents or stowing the roof while wet, as these can all cause permanent damage.

We recommend using our Audi cabriolet care kit. For a limited time, it includes a 20% discount* for our cabriolet drivers and is available to you for only £18 RRP. The kit consists of a soft sponge, insect removal gloves, fabric protector and active foam cleaner. By using it, you know you’ll be giving your Audi cabriolet the best possible care and protection for the future. To find out more and order your kit, please contact us on the details below.

* While stocks last. Offer valid until 31st March 2013.

Since I posted up regarding the flyers I have only received one comment and one owner prepared to give me their address, is this the problem?. Thanks to the two that did.
I have not heard whether I can use the logo yet so I'm holding off ordering for a few days. They will only cost me £15 which I'm more than happy to cover if anyone else decides they want some.

PM sent with contact details .
More than happy to place cards on Cabs .

Yes I got the same card. Funny how they suddenly seem worried about caring for our roofs... Never had a card before and I've own an Audi Cab since 2004!

I assume though not while it is damp or wet as this will damage it! ;)

Now if I was a cynical person. I suspect that if I wondered into my Audi dealership now saying "look at these bloody wear marks". They would say "Ah sir, you must have closed the roof whilst wet. We did send out a flyer warning you not to, you know"...

Exactly, my cynical thoughts too !! It smacks of damage limitation.

Chris you ain't wrong. I feel insulted that I should not drop the roof when damp. We need to group together and get set up before someone falls with a claim.
I am supporting magi with this. United we 'should' stand.

I got the flyer from my local Audi dealership today too.

As other have said it smacks of bolting the stable door after the horse has bolted.................

LOL !

As a matter of interest did you report your wear?
I'm just interested to find out if they have only sent these cards to those that have.

well, at least we know what is causing the problem..........bloody horses bolting across the fabric...

await our offer with bated breath....will probably instigate the visit for them to have a look see. of course, the damage will be the result of not opening the roof during the winter we have had during march and november....

just out of interest...I am in the uk, and the car lives outside, just how many days do you think we can drop the roof when the roof is totally dry?

ffs. Just hope someone else is making a nice looking reasonable size 4 seat cab by 2017.
