Actually they are "considering" a good will gesture , but every time I phone the service agent has yet to confirm with the dealership .
Whilst a new roof isnt going to cure the problem it will definitely help the retail value , the car is 3 years old , one year left on finance so its probably going in one year . A one year old roof is not going to show the same degree of wear as a four year old roof .
What we really need is the numbers of owners having these problems , there has to be a number that moves up from a level of acceptable wear to design fault ?
First apologies for jumping to conclusions.
I did do a rough count on the number of members here worldwide who say they have the same problem. Of the 20 or so –correct me if I’m wrong- little have had any success with this issue.
I have to contact my contact today and will raise your issue about how many complaints it will take to address the acceptable wear verses design fault. Replacement obviously doesn’t solve the problem either!.
After 5 complaints Audi will look into any problem and this has been done in this case of the UK. The problem we have is proving what causes the friction, if they test the cars for 100k miles before releasing out to dealers did they test them on a nice flat track or good old council maintained potholes.
I have been trying to find out what Audi AG use in the factory for the waterproofing but suspect that it will be a trade secret. I’ll post up any information if I find out.
Also interesting is that now they give all new cab owners a complimentary roof pack, I wonder why.
