Question for those more in the know. 2008 non satnav. The A5 has the option in the settings for connecting a phone via bluetooth, although it won't connect to my Nokia Lumia.
I'd like to get the satnav from my phone displaying on the cars display and speaking through the cars speaker. Is this possible?

Tried the bluetooth option from a2dp4audi.com. It's pure garbage. I assume the other option you mention is equally terrible.
I've had the a2dp4audi unit installed in my A5 for six months and the only issue I have is the unplug/replug issue. The reason for this is because the bluetooth unit does not shut off automatically when the car does. I got the hardwire power kit since I only have a concert radio in my car and tried to find a fuse slot to no avail on the passenger side that isn't live when the car is off. Same thing on the driver side. It is annoying to plug/unplug but I think it's even more annoying that Audi didn't have this as a standard feature for a 2012 car! Other than that, it works flawlessly with my Android and I don't have the noise issues you mention either.

I'm using Tune 2 Air

Hi all, I bought the Tune 2 air item on amazon hours after getting my car. works perfect. I've got the 2010 A5 Sline with concert sound, and when this arrived (via 2 day Amazon Prime free trial) I plugged it in, synched my iphone5 within seconds and away I go. the menu in the car using "media" works perfect to control the playlists, repeat, skip, shuffle, etc....all shows up on screen. When I get in car, it automatically starts where I left off when I took the phone with me upon exit. I thought the car bluetooth for phone would be messed up, but if I get a call, or want hands free, it overrides the Tune to air, mutes the music, and makes or takes the all. When call is done, music comes back on. Love it.

Hi All,

I recently sold my 2009 Audi A8L, but before I sold it I removed the Audi Music Interface Bluetooth module from the glovebox that allowed me to play music through the system.

Part # 4F0 051 510 J. See attached picture

Please contact me if you'd like to purchase - morgej at rpi dot edu. Price: $150 obo

Thx.

After a few years of not using A2DP as I cannot stand the inferior audio quality I wanted to comment that with Google Chomrecast Audio released earlier this year, it is now possible to use your phone's Wi-Fi hotspot in order to cast audio / remote tune the Chromecast Audio. This results in a wireless audio experience. I say 'wireless experience' as the Chromecast establishes a connection to your hotspot and then directly streams from the service, e.g. Pandora. The phone then acts as a remote control. Because so many apps have Chromecast support, it's a natural choice for Android phones as well as iPhone (although functionality is slightly reduced).

The audio quality is far superior to anything that A2DP will ever be able to offer as there is a wired connection between the decoding device (Chromecast Audio) and 3.5mm headphone jack (as well as toslink). I tested earlier today with great success.

I have a flyout cable (http://www.a5oc.com/forums/a5-s5-topics/14986-bluetooth-audio-via-mmi-10.html#post206876) that harbirg made but has weak audio in one channel. Just need to check the connections and I will have the high quality audio experience without the wires.

Google own FAQ says this is not supported, but they have overlooked the necessary config when writing their documentation.

Photo of the final setup is a couple posts further down on this page.

Apologies for the newbie qn, but for the 2015 A5 do any of the options support Bluetooth audio streaming from the get-go, or is the adapter cable setup discussed in this thread still required? Do some higher levels of BT audio prep remove the need for the cable? I've found Audi's website and brochures singularly unhelpful in describing what the different options offer, I just want to be able to connect my Android phone by Bluetooth and also stream audio via this :) It seems like the A5 has quite a few things already included (I'm planning on going for the S Line trim) but still found it unclear quite what was what. Thanks in advance!

I am almost current the 2015 will support a2dp (Bluetooth audio). Keep in mind that there are better technologies now though.
Thanks - do you mean more things like WiFi streaming a la Chromecast Audio for more bandwidth?

Will make sure I tell the dealer I want the latest MMI firmware version too when purchasing to at least be running the latest version from the beginning!

Here is the audiophile solution (Chromecast Audio) which provides equal audio quality to HDD or SD card based audio playback. Tested on B&O with 3G MMI. I ended up making a new cable from a standard 3.5mm AMI cable from Amazon. I found the quality was far superior on a cable without any splices and joins on the audio wires. Adding the USB was simple.

Thanks for sharing this simple and potentially great solution. Can I ask though, when you say "adding the usb was simple" what do you mean? Did you splice it into the 3.5mm AMI lead to supply power to the chromecast? If so can I ask how?
I have bought two of these, one for my 3g MMI so I would need to to the above but one to do by wifes car which just has the 3.5mm jack in the arm rest. I was thinking of getting a feed from the local 12v cigarette lighter for the usb power for it
Many thanks

Ok, so for the 3G MMI, you would would build the cable that I linked in my post 643.

http://www.a5oc.com/forums/a5-s5-topics/14986-bluetooth-audio-via-mmi-10.html#post206876

i.e. for the AMI you need to add the USB cable to an existing 3.5mm AMI on the pins 25 and 28. This eliminates the need to run wires for power. For your wife's car the 3.5 mm jack plus 12v cigarette lighter will work just as well. I tested that on a VW and it was fine. But you likely have an identical AMI port in that same area, so the advantage of building the modified cable is it is such a clean final result.

Just keep in mind that you should test the audio at various sound levels (adjust volume on mobile phone) as when set to maximum you'll likely start hearing distortion.

Hi, I've done the mod to my AMI cable using a Bluetooth receiver on my 2011 S5 and it works like a charm. Thanks everyone for sharing.

One thing I wasn't sure of is whether the bluetooth receiver will power off as I noticed it stayed on after I turned the car off and even after I locked the car?

I've noticed that mine stays on too, I don't tend to hang around too long afterwards to find out if it ever switches off but I assume it doesn't.

what happens to the hands free phone connectivity?

I just got a S4 and couldn't believe Audi didn't make it so you could stream from your phone. After reading this thread, what I didn't see mentioned was what happens, if anything, to the hands free phone capability of the car. Is that still usable if you use any one of the Bluetooth methods here??

Thanks

newer raido

Has anyone just tried to switch the Head unit? I have a 2012 S4 and my cousin has a 2014 S4. He has Bluetooth on his. Does anyone know how different or how hard it would be to switch what ever needs to changed?

Thanks

AMI retrofit on MMI 3G Long Coding Helper (VCDS)

Hi, I've installed AMI cable (ref: 4F0035909) at the back of the MMI 3G NAV (BASIC) unit and a Connects2 A2DP bluetooth adaptor.

Music is playing through AUX option after pressing MEDIA buttom (DVD/SD/AUX are showing at MEDIA) but I don't have the control through the steering wheel scrolling buttoms.

I've tried to modify the affected option at the hidden menu (green menu) MAIN/DIAGNOSE/SETTINGS>AMI/AUX but it does not work.

I've read at other threads the requirement to modify the LONG CODING HELPER at Radio module 56:
BYTE 0
- BIT 0 ANALOG INPUT (AUX) INSTALLED
- BIT 2 ANALOG INPUT (AUX) MONITORING ACTIVE

BYTE 11
- BIT 3 MOBILE DEVICE INTERFACE (MDI) SETTINGS ACTIVE

My VCDS Ross Tech is 2017 but has no labels for Radio module 56 and it's not 12 Bytes long (don't remember, but I believe it was 08 Bytes).

I've tried to check MMI module 5F labels which are showing but none of the bits has nothing to do with AMI/AUX.

Will you please help out to activate AMI function?.
