Have to disagree with XXUp, Brisbane Audi noticed the problem and organized a replacement roof through Audi Australia and provided a loan car for the four days it was in the workshop.
Ellfra. Have just bought a 2010 a5 cab which has same problem and live in Brisbane. Who did you have to talk to at Brisbane audi to get it sorted? Manager or just one of the service reps ? Do you have a name ? Thanks
Dan

Am i the only one who has had a new roof out of Audi, if your fighting Audi for a new roof dont waste your time, mine is back to how it was.

To wash the soft top, I was thinking of using mixing a pail of water with a small capful of laundry detergent (with softeners).

Once it is dry. I will use a lint roller remover to extract particles still trapped behind

Then, protect with the Meguir soft top protector which is a lot cheaper than Autoglym.

How did you get them to replace the roof ? I have had lengthy conversations with the service dept and Audi CS without any change in their stance .

I highlighted the wear on the cabrio softtop to my servicing agent in Singapore.

They just shrug it off as a normal crease line and doesn't mean that the fabric is and will be torn.

I wondered that too but had a look at his post #181 and that explains it.

Dan, I spoke with Thomas in the service department and he arranged everything. Note though that the marking was pretty significant.

Just sat in Teesside Audi picking my car up after a service. I mentioned about wear on the roof when I dropped it off this morning and heyho they are ordering a new roof. I thought I'd have to argue the point but no!

Any chance you could post some pictures of the roof ? I am intrigued why they are replacing the roof when it seems everyone else is having the " wear and tear / folded when wet " excuse .
Thanks

Ditto. However, and I think this is unfortunately the point -unless the dealers and Audi CS worldwide report back to the design team this will remain a 'design fault' until it’s changed.

As I see it replacement of a faulty component with another seems pointless!.:wall:

No personal offence meant.

I have the same wear marks around the rear window as well. Will call Audi in the morning. Only 3,000 miles left on my warranty. Please keep us all posted. I will as well.

Looks very similar to mine . Car is booked in for a service in 3 weeks and I have asked again about the roof wear .

I think what I have learnt from this forum is that whether you get a free new roof totally depends on your location in the world and even location in the country. :-/ Some consistency would be nice!

Additional pics

You can see where the roof creases. On mine the fabric is wearing and starting to fluff up and that is the reason they are changing it. They said it seems to be thinner!

Imaging its rubbed with something rough and fluffed the fabric

Hii have an A 5 cabriolet 3 litre diesel quattro s line . we tow a caravan but don,t know if i should tow in the drive mode or the S mode. any help will be a great help.

"Normal wear and tear" is the response I got as well. My Audi dealer claims they have not received any other complaints. I really did expect better from Audi, guess I was wrong.

So I have just take delivery of my new cab. Hopefully the wear and tear wont be too bad, but mine is also an acoustic roof. From owning previous Audis, the leather seats, dashboard/trim discolours, etc. So I'm not holding my breath when it comes to the roof gaining creases and wear marks. I was talking to a Detailer the other day, he said that would be normal with a lot of the cab roofs. More so with acoustic roofs. (Other makers such as BMW, Bentley) all get them. This is why I didn't opt for a red or other coloured roof. Seen old A4s going about and they look dull.
Are these roofs actually capable of leaking easily? I've had water droplets in the coupe from water running into the car (water on the roof and running off and into the cab when the window is open. Same thing also happened with opening the door) All I'm praying for it doesn't leak.

Mines in Thursday for a service and to check the hood wear, know my local dealership they'll agree to change it but damage something else in the process. We'll see how it goes, already had 3 different prices for the service but now have the cheapest one in writing.
