It folds. For ease, lower the roof and windows. Look just below frame on outside of rear seat area, you will see 2 holes on each side which correspond to pins on your deflector. The longitudinal hinge goes forward.

Unfold deflector but do not let it lock into place completely flat yet. Locked it by mistake? Gently bend it in the middle to allow it to be in a slightly "hinged" position. Place the 2 pins in the holes on one side. Place the other two pins into the other side whilst allowing the deflector to snap into flat position.

Gently lift the hinged piece upwards till it snaps into position.

Apply gorgeous woman to front passenger seat and belt into place (OK - a man will do if you are so inclined). Get into driver's seat. Raise the windows for most aerodynamic effect. Find a place to drive like a bat out of hell and smile like a wicked politician whilst enjoying the wind which will not much tousle your hair, nor your passenger's.

To remove, reverse the process. You will find that the deflector in up position is also an excellent HID diffuser at night. Be somewhat gentle about folding the upright down, less so about folding the entire unit upward to remove it.

The instructions are depicted on the outside of the storage bag. Assuming it came with a bag that is? Enjoy ?

When you want to windows to drop (and stay dropped) when you lower the roof, fit one of these: Link :)

Wind Deflector flexibility

First week driving my first Audi A5... had a Mercedes320CLK before and used the wind deflector all the time. Question: can I turn down the horizontal piece behind the front headrests? I keep it installed when the top is up and it seems to disrupt the rear view. I've tried to push down by releasing the front bar, but it doesn't want to budge. Don't want to break anything the first week!

Yes, the vertical part can be pushed flat... push it in the direction of the boot... push hard...dont be afraid... it will snap down and then when you want it back lift it back up until it clicks to put it back in place...

+1 for the SmartTop (got mine when I was stateside and saved a bit)

I also keep the deflector in place all year round as the back seat is rarely used (no kids, yet!) Not only does it come in handy when you have a freak weather day in winter and it's dry (had a few of those this past week) but also keeps prying eyes off the back seat. Although you don't want to keep too many things in the car as they can get blown about, I've lost a hat and an umbrella cover that way.
