Hi everyone,

I drive an Audi A5 2011 2.0 TFSI (211 hp, quattro, S-Tronic). Recently I noticed a strange buzzing sound that appears only under strong acceleration at around 4000 RPM and above.
  • The sound is coming from the rear, almost like underneath the back seat.
  • When I release the throttle or the revs drop, the sound immediately disappears.
  • At normal highway cruising speeds (e.g. 130 km/h), there is no noise at all.

Has anyone experienced this before on the B8 A5? Could it be a sign that the in-tank fuel pump is going bad, or should I be checking something else?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Hard to tell and I’m no expert but is there a feel with the noise or just noise alone? Could be bad diff mounts or something to do with the diff once it hits a certain frequency. It’s in that area anyway. It’s the main mechanical noise maker at the back I can think of anyway, I think you’d feel the feedback if it was this.

it could be something with the diff or drive shaft but i think you would feel vibrations at the same time if it was bad. It sounds to me like an electric motor going bad. Maybe the fuel pump is the right direction. Im guessing when the car is under load it has to work harder to deliver more fuel, so that would also add up?
