If you want to use the factory camera you will need a module. Only fit parts that are period correct (ie same year) for your car. Familiarise yourself with parts catalogue diagrams, such as this ...

2014 A4 Avant

Here you can see the control unit (item 1) is part number 8T0 907 441 C

and here the handle/camera (item 16) is part number 5N0 827 566 AA

The camera control unit does not have component protection. If you buy a used module and are lucky it may be suitably coded. If you change the coding you will have a calibration error until you perform the camera calibration procedure.

Hope this helps.

Personally I would only fit period correct parts as we know they will work. I don’t know where you got your information regarding the revision A unit. It may work or it may not work and you have to buy another one. That’s a risk you have to take.

And if you want to calibrate your camera….

Perhaps it is best to wait until you have the camera fitted, then continue your testing.
You mention that your MMI 3G+ is also retrofitted. Did the APS plus display correctly on the MMI before you fitted the rear camera module?

Calibration error will remain until you complete a calibration process.
open circuit is because you had the RVC camera unplugged. You can clear that and it should not come back.
Where did you pick up power and where did you tap the CAN bus?

I would strongly recommend adding a fused supply to the RVC as mentioned by @DrGER. Id also use the factory location (and 5A rating) for the fuse.

You have the same RVC module as me, (APS+/ Avant) and the coding is the same so that should be ok.

Where did you connect the video signal from the RVC to the MMI? You did not mention this yet. The wires from the RVC should go to pins 11 and 5 in the quad lock, not the spare fakra connector on the back of the MMI, this is for the TV tuner input.

There are 3 fakra connectors on the RVC, brown, green and grey. Brown is not used, green is the feed to the MMI, grey is from the camera. Check these are correct.

Lets also check the multi plug into the RVC as you purchased a harness from the web (some are not pinned correctly!)

39 - Orange/Brown - CAN LOW
40 - Orange/Green - CAN HI

43 - Blue/Red - module +ve
44 - Brown - module -ve

47 - Brown/Blue - camera -ve
48 - Red/Blue - camera +ve

The CAN connection should be done in the CAN disconnector. This is shown in the Kufatec instructions in the right hand end of the dashboard, on a facelift this CAN connector has moved to the bottom of the A pillar (next to the pedals if RHD). CAN H and CAN L should be on PIN 19. PINS 14 to 23 are the convenience bus, so any of these is OK. 13 to 9 is another bus and won't work. 8 to 1 is yet another bus, also won't work

It looks like you are just missing the video signal. Double check the video pin connections/polarity on the MMI (just to be sure) and check the Fakra connectors on the RVC for broken pins.

Have you confirmed power and earth connections with a multimeter on the camera?
