Replacing front filler

I just received delivery of my 2011 S5 cab (it's very lightly used - 6000km). Anyway, I ordered a satin black front filler to replace the grey one that's on the car. The grey one currently has a cut-out for a European plate. I've done the filler replacement on RS4's and Q5's previously. I had a look at the grey filler and I see the two holes for the screws under the filler / inside the grill. They don't actually seem to have screws on them (who knows, dealer may have forgotten them when they prep'd the vehicle -- it previously had the US plate holder on top of the filler). Anyway, normally once you remove the screws, you just "pull off" the filler, but I can't seem to budge it. Am I missing something obvious?

Thanks in advance!

the filler you purchased goes OVER the euro plate holder part.
The screw holes you are referring to are what you screw your black filler into.
there is nothing to remove

nope,
that is exactly what i believed you were referring to.
that goes over the european plate holding part of the grill.
i know that on the B7s which you had said you had done before, that the euro/US/filler were interchangeable, and under it was a unfinished non solid panel, but that is not the case.
this photo is what you are expecting to see but it is not the case

please refer to this Pic and you can see the grill in its MOST BARE FORM, with both a filler plate and US holder next to it.

this is a US members grill, so obviously he wouldn't have the EURO plate holder portion unless it is what the stock grill comes with in its stripped form

^ My grill and filler look like the grill in the above picture (eg slot for the US plate holder is open/empty). However, if you look at the filler with the metal strips on it, it's longer than the plate holder filler. It seems obvious the plate holder filler fits in the euro plate slot, but it doesn't seem the flat filler does. Are you saying the filler with the metal strips goes OVER the filler with the Euro plate slot?!?!
