Seriously, tomm, if Canadian insurance companies are anything like Australian ones, you’re more than likely to face a couple of challenges. The first will be finding an insurance company that will actually agree to insure a high performance car being driven by a 19yo. Assuming you do find one, I’m willing to bet that the premiums will be well up in the “f**k-ton” range. That is to say, astronomical!

What would you recommend for a 19 yrs old student?

My friend got a gle63 coupe and his insurance is 9k per year. So I was thinking S5 would be slightly cheaper since it is V6. I didnt think that people would consider me as a misspent youth. It is not RS5, come on

 

Depends on your financial situation...

If you have no debt, own your own home and make over $100k a year, then you can probably afford the luxury of a new S5. The fact you have done this at 19 is an incredible feat!
If you live at home, have thousands in student loan and other debts, and earn about $40k a year and are thinking of getting one on a lease deal, then you might want to rethink your financial priorities....

Anyone happy to throw nearly $10k to insurance companies either has too much money to burn or has little concept of 'value'...
I'm loathed to spend more than £500 on my insurance!

Anyway, these are just rhetorical questions. Obviously don't want you to disclose your personal details to strangers on a forum!
Think carefully about the true cost of this and where it will leave you in 5/10/15years time.

As for what a 19yr old drives...I was driving a 5yr old Renault Clio worth about £3,000....:thumbsup:

 

Hiya Tomm you lucky fellow!!! I remember that when I was your age I owned an almost new Honda CB750 which cost me £1,000 and this bike was of course my pride and joy. A car-mad mate/neighbour purchased a stunning Lotus Elan Sprint and he offered it to me for a very reasonable £2,000 so I asked an insurance company for a quote. They asked me for £2,000 so I was forced to forget the Lotus........
