Just bought a 2012 Audi A5 2.0TDI Quattro, manual. Worked fine for first couple of days but now has a whole host of errors primarily parking break fault.
Despite this, once started, it runs absolutely fine it is just a pain to get started. It involves taking the key in and out and trying to turn it on over and over again (anywhere from 3-20 times) until you don’t get the dreaded beep and parking break malfunction error message and the engine starts. Just to clarify the car does not try and turn over at all until the time it actually works, it’s like the error is blocking something.
Once started I also usually get an ESC stabilisation error and a stop-start has been disabled error. But otherwise as I say drives perfect.
Once it has been turned on and driven, I can park up and turn it off and hop back in within a short time (up to say 30 mins) and it usually starts again first time. I notice at this time I can get the break pedal all the way to the floor before turning the car on, but if I leave it for a while I cannot, this seems to make a difference.
I have taken it to an Audi specialist garage and they have said a whole range of error codes are coming out and they can’t put the issue down to any one thing but most of the codes they have not been able to clear lead to the clutch. They’ve now put new clutch parts on back order which I have to wait weeks maybe months for.
This is frustrating because, although admittedly I don’t have much mechanic knowledge, I’m unsure on the diagnosis as everything I just mentioned has no relation to the clutch at all, it is usually the break pedal positioning or a wiggle around of the parking break that can get it started, not to mention the only error that comes up 100% of the time is parking break malfunction.
Any advice if you have faced something similar would be much appreciated. Thanks
