Emergency update done right now.
System is back to K0257 / 0144 :)
I will try the update to K0260.
If you're unlucky like me and the other guys who can't continue with the Start option (clicking it does nothing) or if you get the Checking medium message for more than 1-2 minutes, then use the commands from DrGer (you can paste them for example in one of his scripts after the mount command is executed), reboot the MMI then go to GEM and use the Nav>Engineering>Set database and remove calibrations.
Those two worked for me.

One more important information...
Today, I switched from my dughter's Win 11 laptop to my MacOS Monterey laptop and everything went smooth.
Biggest issue of Apple are the famous dot-underscore files who crap and confuse some Unixes.
I use Unix for 30 years, never seen such a horrible mutation like MacOS. Checks all the wrong boxes.

As an aside, I think the problem with MacOS is interaction with the Finder and removeable media like SD cards & USB flashdrives; my wife uses a Mac desktop at home and in her uni office, so I find myself fixing things there occasionally. I've managed to prepare MMI3G media on her home Mac successfully using only a shell prompt in an xterm window. But that won't work for the majority of end users who rely on the MacOS GUI. So, another documented case for NOT using MacOS to prepare MMI3G update media. BTW, I started on AT&T UNIX System V in '87 and use Linux desktops at home mostly. --g

Apple places a few specific, hidden files on each and every connected media.
Therefor there is software that you can use to eject the media.
Just before the ejection, these specific hidden files are removed from the media.
Personally I use Eject-for-Windows

Oh mate, you just mentioned the good old golden years and sorry for offtopic. Started on SunOS, done Irix, SCO, HPUX a little, AIX a lot, and I wish I had the chance to dig more in QNX. I recall they launched it first as the "one floppy full OS". Linux in small sidequests like routing/VPN/QoS and desktop use, mostly Kali for pentesting but at the time I quit the admin world it wasn't still well adopted in enterprise world.
Based on your posts and scripts I infer that MMI3G uses QNX. Thanks for your contribution to the community. Would be nice to have the toolchain available one day, but it's a dying platform anyways :(. Switched a couple of years ago from my C6 A6 to a C8 as daily driver and my old one is kept as a backup car... but trying to keep her up to date with firmware updates. Flashed even the tiptronic some months ago over J2534, to keep the old lady up and running. All the best!

@DerPutzmeister -- A couple members here appear to have the Harman-Becker QNX 6.3 dev environment for the SH CPU. When we had our '14 A4Q, I would have been interested in looking at it; now, not so much, having moved on to other projects. Though I'm glad I was able to find a work-around for the broken myAudi destination import when using so-called "fair" mode to connect to the internet (described here: https://www.vwvortex.com/threads/mm...g-myaudi-contacts-destinations-access-with-dlink-lan-data-broken-fixed.9520918/ ). I have a 2011 A4 with satnav showing nothing . It says software version:Bnav_EU_p0054_D1 and nothing shows in Nav database version:

Can I just download 0260 and the MMI basic map etc?
I have an sd card with 5Na-919-866H but it doesn’t work, all I get is “insert nav medium” thing. Why is this?
Is it both the map AND the firmware or what? It’s saying 8 satellites are there!
So what is the problem and how to fix it?
Every now and then I can see it trying to load a map update or something and it gets to 25% and then nothing

@Stoogy -- You should update the software to BNav_EU_K0260 first.

Re your nav SD card, 5NA919866H is a VW part number for later MIB2 nav systems; it will not work in your Harman-Becker MMI3G (Basic) system.

After you update your system software, you should look at preparing a proper MMI3G Basic nav database SD card from this post: https://www.a5oc.com/posts/1639937/ --g

@DrGER if I’m going down the’user defined’ route, and update firmware, when it comes to activating the new map with the activator,I see in the guide that there’s the ‘Standard’ or ‘user defined’ option again. Do I select user defined again or just go with standard? Has me puzzled why I would have to choose user defined when doing firmware updates and not choose it for activating the map.

@Stoogy -- Don't get ahead of yourself, meaning, focus on getting the MMI software updated to K0260. When the software is updated successfully (as a "Standard" update), proceed to updating the nav database with your region installed on an SD card. Deal with "activation" only if it is needed, later. --g

Can I ask,why does the software need updating? What would happen if I just installed an sd card with the correct map database on it?

your present software is far too old.
as simple as that.

@DrGER last question please. I think i was told at the beginning to update firmware via user defined method, and I see you are saying to use the 'Standard' method,is that what i should do? because Im not sure if I have Bose/B&O system. I cant see brand names anywhere on speakers etc.My old A4 had Bose on the speaker covers i think. But i want to be sure about which method to use before i update it tomorrow . Thank you very much

@Stoogy -- Does your '11 A4 have a separate audio amplifier fitted behind the left trim panel in the boot -- or only the radio module ? A VCDS auto-scan will tell you this, too. If no audio amplifier is fitted, you don't need to worry about updating the amp software -- and even if your A4 had the B&O amp, the likelihood that the software would be updated by K0260 is very nearly zero, since the amp/DSP software included with K0260 is the original production/factory software version. If the car is fitted with the B&O amp module, just confirm that the amp device is not selected when you run the update, for example:

If the amp module is not 'N', exit the update and restart in "User defined" mode. --g

Just the radio module. ‘Standard’ it is then. Thank you for being so patient

DrGER i see theres 2 main files in the firmware file.1 is 4G0919884E_SDS_LANGUAGE_CD_EU_0006. is that supposed to be uploaded to the MMI at the same time as the K0260 file? or is it left out? I cant find anywhere that explains! whats that file for? @DrGER ?
