Can I update maps to 2016 without upgrade firmware to 257, 260?
My Audi Q5 has DAB and Bang & Olufsen and I don't like to have problems with bass

Hi,

I am a bit unsure what and if I can update my system as no one seems to have what I have.
Its a 2011 A4, 2TDI Technic.
From what I can see, the software is BNav_EU_P0054_D1 with a nav. database of 4G0919884J ECE 5.12.4

The nav system is on a disk, 'Audi MMI Navigation (MMI 3G) Version 2011.
If I try to run the system without the disk, it just asks for the DVD disk, so am I correct to assume that there is no hard drive on my system.
Is this then classed as the 'basic'?

So firstly, are all these files referred to on this thread valid for my version?
If so, which ones would I need to update my maps to 2016? Do I have to go through them all?
I have trailer management system enabled (activated), would this be effected or is it nothing to do with it?
I have tried repeatedly to get to the 'green screen' by holding the 'setup' and 'car' buttons but so far nothing has happened. Does this work on my version or is that for the hard disk version only. If so, how do I do the install without this menu?

Sorry for all the questions, I have been through this thread and others, but the amount of information is just blending into one mass and I can't seem to separate instructions between models/systems that are for mine and what are not.
Any help would be appreciated.

you have mmi basic, and is NOT hard drive, this post is for your version of maps and software, PDF is well explained, following the steps can upgrade smoothly.

maps for 2016 (5.22.3) you can enter in a 8gb SD, introduce sd1 to work, before using activator same for all go well, then you put sd1 maps and works.

its software is very old, nose if it is possible to pass from which you have to the last, the best (I think) is to pass one at a time updates

@anaaremobil -> you should be able to go to K0260 directly.
@ely_ellis -> yes BNav is basic navi. Green menu works on all MMI 3G units. Read the manual.

Read through every post on this thread twice now and read through the excellent .pdf file over and over, (thanks Congo) and so feel pretty confident to go ahead.

I don't have the VCDS cable / software etc. so will be unable to clear any errors (which doesn't bother me), but, I have to take my car in to the dealer at some point to have the emissions update done.

Now, will the dealer see these errors and be likely to question me about them. Possible disable system, report me, etc, or when they do the update will they not see these errors?

I updated the firmware to BNav_EU_K0260_1_D1 and the maps to 4G0 919 884S, but I have 2 errors: 03276 and 03175, and the sound is not so clear like before, including at phone. Is possible to fix the error 03276 without VCDS?
I have the voice navigation in German and I want to change it in English, I have a Language CD, but I don't know how to do it. In the hidden menu I can't select other language instead German. Could you help me?

Update:

Well, I bit the bullet and went ahead tonight.

Updated firmware to 257 first, took about 10 minutes, some very scary moments when it seem to take forever to re-boot, but all went perfectly.
Updated from 257 to 260, took just a few minutes, was surprised by how fast this one was, but suspect it is because most of it was under 257, but I maybe wrong. Anyway, again went perfect.
Installed 2016 maps, again all went to plan. Maps worked without activation for about 2 minutes then got the activation message.
Final SD card in and activation of 2016 maps completely successful and everything still in English!
Still cannot get the 'green screen menu' no matter what I try. (But not necessary).

The downside, it seems to have taken 10 years off my life with some very scary moments!

So, a massive thank you to Congo for his guides and software.

1 quick question. I noticed on the picture in the guide that there is a temperature reading next to the clock. My temperature is on the display between the speedo and tacho. Is this a setting somewhere to put the temperature on the MMI display or is it model specific. (I have an A4).

@anaaremobil -> insert the language cd in the DVD, then change the language back to English and it will ask you to load the voice. If its in English now try to change it to German then back to English
@ely_ellis -> The temperature is for the single zone clima. If you have deluxe (three zone) then the temperature is on the display of the control unit.

Hi,

I just updated my A4 Avant ( 2011 ).
Got it working without errors.
I do have to say my original software was:

Software version:
BNav_EU_P0054_D1

Navi-DB-version:
4G0919884J ECE 5.12.4

And the first update to 257 was a Bit different then in the pdf. But I'ts more or les the same.

I have one more question for congo:
Is it possible the have both East and West Europe maps working on one SD card at the same time ? En how do I do that ?
At the moment I have West Europe installed

On one sd no, some say that it works on one sd and one DVD but I've never tried it. In theory it should work.

I am on P0029 (MU: 0108) (I have MMI 3G basic). I downloaded the K0260 firmware, extracted the files and put them into the SD card.

Now I am getting a "Release info could not be read" error. Do you have any idea why this could be happening?

I tried doing the same with the K0257 firmware and I'm still getting that same error.

Any hints would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
I would like to exclude the Bose components for the update as described in the very good manual (Many thanks to Congo!!)
I´m able to enter the Green Menu and tick the "user defined mode".
But if I try to add or remove checkmarks in the "User Defined" folders (BoseG3_Q7 or any other folder), this is not possible.
The checkmarks seem to be blocked or not connected to any input button.
What could be the reason?

Hi! I have a problem with the updates :-(

I have a soundaktor module with audi exhaust(exterior noise control).It's not working anymore with K0257 and K0260! can anyone help me please?

Can I reinstall K0260 with maybe some other settings so it do work?

I tried to downgrade with my original CD but I can't click the button START update
I also tried to go downgrade to K0257 first, but I also can't click that button
