I read on another forum that the if 6.22.4 map is ativated you can install this over the top and it will remain activated

To be installed with USER DEFINED MODE active in green menu and by manually select all items under AUDI_MMI3G_ECE.
SD card 64 GB or USB key connected by AMI if installed.

Can you share the steps you took to install it. delete old maps, delete nav partition, install (user defined), run activation script? etc?

Also have you got mmi3g or 3gp?

3- User defined mode active in green menu, SWDL section (only if old map is already activated by Keldo script)
4- Start update and manually select all item (no bootloader) in MMI section AUDI_MMI3G_ECE
5- Not necessary to reactivate new map if Keldo based script installed for old map
I have mmi3gp.
The new map is valid also for mmi3g but you have to activate it with FSC code not released yet.
Note that new map is about 33 GB and not fit on many 32 GB SD card, if your car is equipped
with AMI you can use USB key instead of SD card.

Is vlasoff script the same as keldo script?

Yes, vlasoff script is Keldo based modified script running on all mmi3gp, no need MAC address code on the file name

32GB SD will be an option if the map is split on two parts - MMI 3GP and MMI 3G High.
I need to find space somewhere and I will upload it with some instructions what to remove so it fit on 32GB SD.
Otherwise the install is strait forward. If the map section (AUDI_MMI3G_ECE) have question mark beside it then you need to activate user defined (I will put this on the map so you don't have to go thru GEM) and manually select all components under AUDI_MMI3G_ECE.

I had to register just to be able to say thanks!

Yesterday I followed this guide, and updated my late 2011 A6 from 770 (had done this update about a year ago, but didn't update the maps then for fear of losing map access) to 900 and then installed maps 6.22.4 (I was previosly on some 5.13.X or something). I had to reinstall GEMMI (also CombiStyles and MapStyles) after the update, as Google Earth was grayed out. Also, I got the 03623 error code so had to run the FSC remove script.

But after all this, my map is now updated and working, and for the first time since I bought the car used three years ago, I now have working Online Traffic! The car was originally sold in Italy, where the Online Traffic was activated, and since brought to Finland where I purchased it three years ago; by then the maps were apparently so old, that online traffic no longer worked even though the license was still active. I even bought a new license for Online Traffic from the local dealer last year, in the hope that I could get it to work with 770 firmware, but since it didn't work (the dealer claimed that it was not possible at all because of hardware issues with cars from late 2011), I got reimbursed but the license stayed activated. Never ceases to amaze me how little the official channels know about these cars. All it needed was a map update, but it's apparently easier to just tell the customer that it's impossible.

Anyways, just wanted to express my thanks to Congo and all the other helpfuls here!

2 Hours later and fully updated with the latest firmware and maps, with no issues what so ever. Infact, I can now even get fully online which I struggled with on my old firmware, full Audi Connect right at my fingertips!

Congo you're a legend for making this availible to us all, thanks so much.

One thing I was aware of was how long it took to write things to my class 10 SD card, it took nearly as long to copy the files to the card, as the update took to the car.

I wonder if anyone knows what speed the MMI's USB port is? As knowing the transfer speeds availible over USB, I wonder if using a USB flash drive would speed the process up in the future... not that I need to do quite this level of update again anytime soon.

I went straight from what I believe to be the ORIGINAL 3G+ firmware (since my model MMI unit is the very first 666 unit - "A" and doubt its been upgraded since) of P0513

@congo its not causing an issue as everything seems to work - but I cant seem to check any of my GEMMI status etc in the green menu. When I try to check GEMMI status and other settings in that area I get a "error in screen render" log. Have you ever seen this before? Is there anything i can do about it?

Its worth mentioning after the Map update, I did update the GEMMI section (only) again as advised earlier in the thread.

Hi guys, this is an awesome resource.

I want to update the firmware on my 2010 A5 (mainly to stabilise bluetooth connections and enable USB audio connections with my iPhone 6s), but I have no idea what kind of MMI it has. Where can I find that information? And is there anyone here with sufficient experience who would be willing to help me out remotely, via video call, to walk me through the firmware update procedure? Happy to pay someone with the right skills.

The 2016 will have to go ... soon.
There is no activator for 3G High yet.

Does the map fit the SD card 32 gb? Should the upgrade is carried out as for the previous version or just insert the card and start to upgrade the map? Are firmware k0900 must upgrade the K0942?

No need to upgrade the firmware.
The map will fit on 32GB SD if 3G High related folders are not copied over.
