So I've owned my 59 plate 2.0tfsi coupe for a week today.... My partner was driving down m23 today after about 7 miles of driving the ecu light comes on loss of power and bad juddering... Any idea what this could be . I had to pay 145.00 to get it recovered to local Crawle audi garage . I waiting for them to give me a diagnostic but ddon't think they have had a change to look at it today.

Thanks

How many miles on the clock? Could be something as simple as the spark plugs need replacing. That happened on an old Astra 1.6 I had, thought the engine had blown but turned out the numpties at the garage had neglected to tell me that the plugs needed changing at 40k miles, despite it being in for a service with them a week or two before hand.

Other than that it could of course be any number of things - what colour was the smoke?

Tell the girlfriend that Audi said it was due to the way she was driving it :)

Just kidding - hope it's something small anyway. Let us know the verdict.

So guys... I have told today by audi that it injector number 2 is knackered....but they recommend that I replace all 4 of the injectors. what do you guys think... I'm having a bit of a battle at the moment with car giant where I bought the car from. I didn't take out any warranty when I bought the following areas but as it has only been a week I'm hoping they will do it out of good will. Only time will tel . I'll keep you posted

Thanks

Replacing Injectors?

I bought my car a mth ago and just had same experience. SHUDDERING to a stop. heaps of smoke and fuel coming out the exhaust . Local mechanic has no clue, so another tow to auto electrician that confirmed an injector cylinder 3 was not closing and needed replacement. another tow into Audi dealer service dept that claimed all four injectors should be replaced. This was highly Suspect as the auto elect checked misfiring codings and was only cyl 3. Like you we did not have a warranty so think they were trying it on. We have opted to replace 1 injector. Cost NZD634 for injector alone, not including labour and tows trucks and bills from the previous two workshops. Mileage 29000kms

Ouch. Maybe ask for a good will gesture from Audi UK? Whinge about it being low mileage etc and say its not great etc and say it could be your last Audi.

May or may not fly but worth a try. I had a problem with an injector pump which was quoted at ÂŁ2500 (or ÂŁ2700 can't recall) and after a similar whinge got a decent contribution from Audi.

Best of luck getting it sorted.

Well I sent email to the head of servicing at my local dealer where the car is being repaired within 15 minutes I had a call back
... they offered to pay for the recovery of the vehicle which was around ÂŁ145.00
but also explained the only reason they reccomended the other injectors be replaced is because the car is stripped and the labour cost wouldnt be any different only parts. (Hence the ÂŁ800 figure) I was then told that they could reduce ths to ÂŁ500 If I wished for the works to commence.. I havent got thats sort of money to fix something that isnt broke yet.
Any way audi was helpfull the car is being repaired at th cost of car giant . Just hope like hell that I dont regret not spending the moneyon having the othes changed..

A car dealer has to by law provide a MINIMUM of 3 months warranty at no cost to you!
It's under trading standards law

Unless the car is sold as spares

I think the problem S4 is that Car Giant are willing to pay for what's broken but no more. I think the dealers reasoning is get the other injectors changed whilst its out as a precaution.

Hope the fix is to your satisfaction.

In Car Giant's defence, they are only liable to pay for Just what's caused it to breakdown, ie. one injector. They are not liable to pay for something that might just go later,ie the other injectors, they would only have to change the rest, if/when they caused a breakdown.

Not sure how interested you are in keeping the car, or getting rid of it.

There's a lot of reasons why people get rid of cars- being problematic is one of them. Might wanna get with that dealership to let them know an expensive repair was needed within a week of ownership. If they can't put some type of extended warranty (say 12 months on drivetrain and drivetrain electronics) you should approach with them with options of getting money back.

I truly hate reading posts like this when the customer gets screwed. I'd have flipped my lid at the dealership for not standing by a used car they sold me.

BTW- what year is your Audi?...

But the dealer is like i read it taking care of what's broken, but will not pay for the other injectors, which can last for a month or 1 year og 5 year or even 10 more years. you will not know untill it happens.
