Hi,

First Audi and loving it, massive upgrade for me, going from a cheap runabout to this V6 monster...

So, issue is with a cold engine. Automatic, once in Drive, as it starts to creep forward on it's own, I accelerate. The engine revs but no increase on power to the wheels. A bit more pedal, a bit more noise, but no acceleration. Feels exactly as if I was riding the clutch bite point in a manual. Only lasts a few moments then a gentle jerk as the power reaches the wheels. Reverse can also be a little jerky. All other "gears" seem fine.

On a warm engine the issue isn't there. It's booked in under warranty in just over a week, wondering if anyone has experienced this or has any ideas / suggestions?

Many thanks!

Sam

I've had something like this recently in my S5 (2010 Cab). Starts ok, but as you try and move off (forward or backward) it jerks and lurches and there seems to be no connection between accelerator and wheel action - very much like the clutch is slipping. Cold weather and a lack of use make it worse (ie more likely to happen). Problem goes away after about 5-10 seconds, but is pretty disconcerting when it happens.

Just had the gearbox oil done on mine as I thought that would be it, but no change.

It might benefit from a remap as yours will be the S-tronic (DSG) box. To engage gear, the box relies on oil pressure in the mechatronic and clutch packs, when just started and been stood a while, it may need a little while to wake up. Have you tried putting in D and holding the brake for a good 5 seconds, then see if it still does it when lifting off the brake? When refilling auto boxes this is part of the procedure to get the oil pumping and pressurising.

Welcome Sam.

That could be just down to a low oil level as you say it's ok once warm and once warm the oil level will rise due to expansion. Apparently the Multitronics are picky on levels.

I think these are to service every 46K miles.

When you say creep, are you pressing the brake? All autos creep forwards when the brake is released and you're not touching the accelerator.

Cheers Dave,

Will give that a try next time I start it up. Probably normally try moving off as soon as I select D having faffed about with seat belt and nav setup will in P.

Thanks for the input guys, much appreciated. All confirming my thoughts, she had the gearbox oil change just before I bought it, so suspect it either needs another flush or more likely a tiny top up. Will see what happens when it goes to Audi on Wednesday.

And yes the creep forward in releasing the brake is as normal, just no more acceleration than that when accelerator pressed.

I think my first week was averaging about 30mpg, damn the acceleration is fun! But driving it very sparingly till this issue gets sorted and now 45 to 50 mpg which is helping my wallet!

Just to conclude, turned out the gearbox oil had been overfilled when it was changed. Level adjusted and issue seems resolved. Reverse still seems like a very weak gear, needs a lot of revs to get up my drive but it is on a fairly steep hill at the start.
