Hi all, new to the threads..
I have been given an advisory following a recent service that an x-frame under the gearbox has corroded. My local garage has proverbally more or less washed their hands in the holy font...
Is changing or repairing this an option? or is it time to consider trading in? I have noticed a few frames on ebay and a few aftermarket replacement options, however i'm unaware of the what the job entails.
Can you guys advise if i should just get a 2nd opinion from a different garage? or is this a job that an average Joe could do in 30mins?

Dunno. But look up a local VAG specialist, an independent NOT official stealer, and get their advice.
