Hi, Ive recently brought a 3.0tdi sportback and would like to modify the rear LED lights but i cant seem to find the wiring diagram? Im assuming its a Canbus & Power feed and i have some knowledge of microcontrollers so i should be able to simulate the light cluster responses.

If the system is Canbus then how is does the ECU know the unit has been changed? Is it done by part number or a serial number in each light cluster?

Any technical info would be greatly appreciated.

Another (likely a Noob question) but if i just buy another set of rear lights (the same Part no.) will i need to code those into the ECU ?

You will need a VAG aware diagnostic tool such as VCDS to recode the car with any new options fitted. I believe the LED rear lights requires a few changes to be made. I see lots of posts looking for coding assistance.
If you exchange parts with the same part number they should work. The exception being controller modules which themselves require coding to match the old units and some also require component protection removal.

Thanks @JohnS4 that what i thought but being new to Audi i wanted to be 100%, it will be the same part numbered rear LED lights.
