Hi, I got my windows tinted a week ago and I'm not happy with the results. It looks like its been badly done with air bubbles left, dust trapped under the tint and tears in the tint where the window slides up by the door frame.

I've uploaded some pictures where you can see some of the problems but it looks a lot worse close up. I've rang the window tint company and asked them to look at it and I'm still waiting for them to get back to me.

Click the link under the pictures for a larger picture.

This is also a professional job done by a company (VISION Window tinting) that specialise it window tinting! Should I get a refund or redone? What do you gys think?

Thanks.

well that doesn't sound or look right! how long have they been 'professionally' tinting windows?! I'm no expert in tinting as I suck at it but all of my cars including my A5 have had their windows tinted by 2 different company's and the bubbles / tears didn't happen on any of them. As with everything that gets tinted there are small bubbles that are under the tint and these last for a couple of days while the tint 'settles' but will go away and no sign of them ever being there. No offence on your behalf but that doesn't look like a professional job and I personally would be wanting my money back and taking somewhere else. Dust may get trapped under the tint as no workplace is completely dust free so this is something that just happens and no one can help unfortunately, and you may also get the odd small bubble but it shouldn't be half as much as what you have.

I'm a killer for detail and I know that would wind the hell out of me! Let us know what they say about the refund or redoing it!

I've just got a phone call from them and they said they will redo it for me and they apologised for the badly done job. I told them I could pop over with the car to show them, they said that would not be necessary and that they believe me 100%

They actually are in the same business park as me, only about 50 metres away from me :-D

I was in their offices and they do look very professional, they have about 5 graphics artists working from them and what seemed to be about 5 secretaries!? The car window tinting is just one part of what the company do, they mainly do office/building window tints, lorry and van signs etc..

They actually say in the FAQ sections "All our tints come with a lifetime manufacturers warranty and Vision give a full labor guarantee". So at least I'm covered there. I'll make sure to post back and let you know how the new tint goes :)

ah that's alright then! Lucky its only over the road, its a good thing that they'd do it free but it is bad that they let their standards slip. All it takes is for someone like yourself to have a bad experience and them not to sort it out which in turn will give them a bad reputation!

let us know how it all goes though buddy

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but the non adhesion around the edges of the glass where Audi put the dot matrix will always look like this. Aftermarket tints cannot adhere to the dots.
The bubbles & scratches in other areas should be rectified easily, though by reapplying.

I've just got my car back from the Window tinters and the difference is amazing!!! As you can see in the pictures :)

DavidS and vrao, check out the difference around the dot matrix. You will notice a massive difference with the new tint they put on.

This thread is a good example of what a bad job is and a good job is for anyone who thinks they have a bad tint job. :)

Looks great! If a company could guarantee this kind of work I would have it done in a heartbeat!

Looks great! So much better. My current A5 is a Black Edition so has factory tints. These look as good as factory.

Antivirus, I agree! The dot matrix difference is HUGE, looks like factory! How did they do it? Sanded down the dot matrix/colored between the dots?
I've seen many cars done well, but none got the dot matrix down like yours.

Hi Vrao, all I know is I received an email from them this morning asking me if I could drop the car in, they got a new extra thin tint in. No sanding or anything, you can see that there isn't any air gaps on the rear window defroster wires and also the black lettering is now invisible. Here's a before and after shot for comparison:

I think the difference was the first job was either done in a rush or done by an apprentice, glad to see that they sorted it out for nothing though & it looks very good now buddy!

you would have thought they'd have given it a check before giving you the keys saying its done, cos it doesn't take an expert to look and see that its a crap job!

Hi guys, new member here. I got mine done this afternoon and the dreaded silver bits have appeared on the matrix area. I contacted the tinter and he said its part of the drying process and the whole area on the matrix will become silver? Can anyone advise what do please? I am aware it was only this afternoon so may not be dried properly yet so am I just being a bit over cautious?

Cheers
