A couple of weeks ago, the driver's window lift on my 2018 A5 Cabriolet began working erratically. Firstly, it failed to close the window fully when the door was shut (it automatically drops slightly to avoid contacting the lower edge of the hood when the door is opened). It would not respond to one-touch opening or closing and, it did not open or close with the other windows when the 'all windows' button was pressed. Finally, none of the windows opened or closed with the long key press when locking or unlocking the car even though this was set up in the MMI.
I have been away in France since mid-May and the nearest Audi dealership is an hour away so I booked an appointment Stratford Audi for a few days after I return to the UK next week.
So, a slight inconvenience but no big deal. Except that it now appears suddenly to have cured itself and everything has been working properly for the last five days!
Does anyone out there have any idea what is going on? I am reluctant to cancel the booking with Audi in case it happens again.

Sounds like it temporarily lost its limit memory… the symptoms are exactly as you describe. Usually you have to manually reset this by lowering the window all the way then releasing the button and pressing back down again for 10+ seconds. Then repeat the process in the up direction. Apparently yours seems to have reset itself. Perhaps in your frustration you have held the button at the end of travel sufficiently long to reset it? Or it’s just been a temporary glitch in your case?
I would say try the above if it recurs.

Thank you Dan. That looks a simple solution if it happens again. I must cancel the service appointment with Audi.

PLEASE tell the Audi dealer that all is ok and instead find a good VAG specialist cos they cost about half and they usually know what they are doing too......

Thank you Simon. I have already cancelled the Audi appointment, though the car is still under warranty. The “fault” has righted itself and continues to function as it should. I may contact a local Audi specialist when back in the UK.
