349 bhp is correct for the S5, as this is approx 354ps which is what Audi quotes for the car.

The S4 engine has less power than the 4.2 V8 in the S5 because they are different engines.

How does the S5 4.2 compare with RS4 engine have a friend who annoyingly looks down his beak at my meagre S5!

tell him you have more torque and useable power.

then ask him for a race, but let his tyres out first lol

IMO they are very nearly identical. The main difference being that the RS is capable of revving higher, and in essence power is torque X revs, so it has more power, but up to the S5 rev limit there is very little difference. Also I think I'm right in saying that the RS is slightly heavier and has a higher Cd. So in summary, unless you drive abopve 7,000 rpm all the time there's not much in it.
