I recently parked my car in Lyme Regis and some scrote attempted (very badly) to remove the wheels. They took off 2 of the plastic nut covers and gauged some on all 4 wheels as well as the alloys themselves.

I used just park and took out their cover against damage so considering a claim on my own insurance. I have protected no claims and just park will cover the excess.

Is that the best route to go down here? Claim on my insurance and get the £250 excess back from just park? Or even with protected no claims can I expect my premiums to go up next year. I pay about £300 for my insurance so if it's not going to affect that it seems to make sense. But interested in any insurance gotchas.

Thoughts appreciated.

Dead simple to test, just use comparison sites to get an insurance quote around your current £300. Then edit the quote with a £400ish vandalism claim and see if they jump. Then you can do the maths if its worth it or not.

Useful info both, thanks very much. Will do a bit of research on the prices and go from there.

Feeling a bit violated by the whole thing, never had anyone try anything like this on my car before :(

Doug mate a very sad sign of the times mate. If I were you I would just go to a specialist and get the wheels refurbished, they will then look like new again and forget insurance.
