Make sure the dealer on locks the DVD if you ordered the NAV option.
Then you can eject the DVD for updates.

That's a new one (to me). The DVD in the trunk is otherwise "locked"?

Make sure they give you a cable for your ipod or anything else you might be using with the MMI.

well this is my current checklist (in no particular importance), some of them i learned from my friend from his car. You may find problems later but its better to find it before pick up to avoid registration delays and weeks of irritation to bring it back in to the dealer

- Leather seat condition (check for wrinkles and bubbles)
- DVD unlocked
- MMI cables
- Rim walls (check for breaks and scratches)
- Sunroof tilting
- burnt out lights and bulbs
- Leaking under the hood
- Folding seats closing properly back into place
- windsheild damage and cracks
- ashtrays and compartments opening / closing
- Electric seat adusting / mirrors folding and dimming
- windows up/down and door locks
- rearview camera working / sensors operating
- Frozen pixels on screen
- Horn
- Weird noises (dont let them tell you cause its new and will fix itself)
- Bluetooth mobile connection
- Rattle noise in speakers
- CD player insert / eject and play
- Jerking during acceleration and brake noise

The eject button on the DVD drive works fine. I have updated my Nav once already. There is no lock on it and is very similar to a PC dvd drive.

Could be a regional thing then with the Nav as currently mine has a DVD+R copy of the 2008 Euro nav in it and I just pressed eject as you would expect and swapped the dvd over. 10 second job with the MMI taking about 2 minutes to do a software update before rebooting with the revised nav data.

I called my dealer and he said Audi did it to keep the
NAV DVDs from getting high jacked. Their tech didn't get the
word to update the MMI. I wonder what other things need to be updated.
