What exact exhaust an dcomponents should I get to get this sound?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4b311ym5K2Y

Also, is it possible to fit different tips on it? somethinng simmilar to stock but slightly bigger?
Learn from my thousands of dollars of S5 exhaust experience....

First, go to a decent exhaust specialist and ask them to remove your rear resonator and replace with a couple of pipes. IMO this will give you a beefy exhaust note.

If this isn't enough then..

Second, go back to the same exhaust specialist and fit new mufflers, at this time you'll be able to choose any kind of tip configuration you like

To be honest the whole branded exhaust system sound can be achieved by most experienced exhaust shops. Please don't waste your money like I did on an MTM system.

By the way, I'm not bagging the branded exhaust manufacturers just offering alternative advice.

be ready to have your ear drum ripped by the cabin drone
That is not true at all, yes there is a little drone but not the way you have described it. If my mum, dad and granny don't seem to be bothered by it then it is not that bad at all. It does not drone like a cheap exhaust.

Between 1800rpm and 2000rpm is when it is noticeable under acceleration, but when crusing at partial throttle it goes quiet and is barely noticeable.

If you want this sound you need to order the AWE Cat back and the AWE downpipes.

Safe to say the 1800-2000rpm range is where drone may happen but if you choose wisely there will be no drone

From experience I can say that the AWE + Downpipes puts out a noticable sound increase but its pure sweet V8 rumble and its impressive..

At idle and under power without hard acceleration you barely hear the exhaust. At that 2000 - 2500 RPM while decelerating you have a rumble but it isn't over powering and if you let the clutch out and break or downshift its just a sweet sound.. at 2500 RPM and 65 miles per hour I hear the car at a good decibel and there's no drone hardly.

EVERY PERSON that has heard my exhaust loves it and if you are a person that can't stand any cabin drone whatsoever, then this muffler system is definitely not for you.. If you want SUPER insanely quiet then you can modify your stock setup or there are other brands like B&B that are much much quieter. I might add that the B&B gives good flow and the tips look good as well. AWE's look awesome as well but its just a different look. Each person has different tastes in the tips and what they are looking for..

This is exactley what I am looking for. i really don't care for a quite exhaust. I want it very loud, since the V8 sound is propably the main reason I am getting an S5. If I wanted something quite and fast, I would get the 3.0 and mod it.
By the way, do you get the exact same sound as in that video? Do you have to remove the resonators?

I get that same exact sound, but even better .. Keep in mind that the video amplifies the sound and makes it high.. Mine is just as powerful but more deep and low.. Pure sex..

I can't remember but the AWE doesn't have resonator's... I have the downpipes and its free-flow...

I get exactly that sound that is in the video, what I have noticed is that while the exhaust is cold/cooler then it makes a slightly high pitched sound as you here in the beginning of the video (which I love). Then it becomes deeper as it warms up.

Like I said, all you need is the AWE catback and AWE downpipes if you want that sound. The cat back has one resonator on it and the downpipes have none. Trust me it's loud althouogh it seems quieter to me thse days having got use to it.

The same thing happens to my G35. In the morning the sound is absolutley amazing. I wish I could always keep it sounding that way. Not sure why id does that though.

So when the car warms up, the sound is just as nice or gets to quite and not as throaty???

Just like most exhausts, the metal heats up and expands and it does change the tone after about 10 mins..

I went out on a date last night with a girl with a good sounding Mustang (nice exhaust on hers as well) and she noticed the sound and loved it.. So there ya have it...

:2thumbsup:

Our catback is very refined. Add our downpipes, and it gets aggressive, like in that video.

What you hear in that video is pretty accurate, just a little amplified from the sound bouncing off the buildings.

You can always start with our catback and then add the DPs later.

Both are in stock.

Is it possible for you guys to put up another video in an open area with quite surroundings? like GMG did and the rest of the guys.

That's actually a client's video and not one we made.

Here is a video we made with our cat back alone:

and here is one with the downpipes added:

Sounds Great. As soon as I get my S, I will get the kit. I got one question however, do you guys plan on changing the tips? Making them fit more like the stock? They seem to stick out a bit too far and go even with each other.

Our tips now come with clamps instead of being welded to the tailpipe so you can set them as deep and as staggered as you wish.

Thats really good. Also, I noticed that there are two options, black tips versus chrome. Do you have a close up picture of both?
