Hi fellow A5 owners,
I recently purchased my parents 2015 A5 diesel Sportsback (I know the car history and I guess I trust the previous owners), anyway I am having an issue with water in my drivers side footwells. I'd like some help pinpointing the problem...
The problem
There was a big storm last week (All windows were up and the sunroof fully closed) and the next day I found about 1 inch of water in the rear driver side footwell, and a small amount under the front driver side mat. After drying the floor out and 3 days of sunny weather later, the floor keeps getting wet every time I drive around. There are no drips or obvious signs of where the water is coming in; it seems to be seeping up from under the carpet. Definitely more in the rear area than the front.
Theories
- My first thought after searching the forums was a blockage in the "scuttle" area under the bonnet. I checked there and removed a lot of leaves but the drain hole was clear. I hosed down the windscreen and all the water ran out, plus it's been dry for 3 days. So I don't think it is that.
- Second theory was the sunroof drain pipes, still a possibility but I know the sunroof was never used at all by my parents so I doubt the drains are blocked. And I can't see how they would drain to the areas it does. Plus, it's been dry for 3 days.
- Current theory, air conditioning condensation pipes / broken air con something or other. I think it is this but why is the water appearing where it is?
Has anyone had this issue or know the likely source of the water? I have it booked in at Audi but not for 2 weeks but I would love to figure it out before then.
