[Need4S5]

I know the voice activation button can be programmed by using the VAG-COM I think it's called cable hooked up to a laptop. Has anyone had the dealer activate it for them? I think paying $300 plus for a cable is crazy.
60K for a car that I have to program myself WTF.

By far, that cable/software is aimed at shops and serious motorheads. So, I completely understand the price (and it's really about the cost of their software development and information gathering, I'm sure).

Audi doesn't want us to have this friggin' feature even though it's sitting right there. THAT'S what bugs me!

Check on audiworld.com, it was done there, actually there is a whole post with step by step instructions on how to do it. Next thing is be nice, offer a 6pack to somebody that owns teh VAG tool near you and make a new friend. That's perhaps the easiest and entertaining way to get it done.

Interesting. I'll take a look. I thought there was a specialized dongle (i.e. a key for the software, I'm sure) on their cable.

I wouldnt think so, all your doing is changing a sequence of numbers using vag-com software

Once you've installed the hardware, that's when you need the VAG-COM to code it into your car. Also, allegedly there's a potential problem with A5/S5 in that when your dealer hooks your car up to their system, it will check for updates according to what the 'factory' thinks is installed in your car, and might wipe out any coding for aftermarket devices.

I wasnt aware there was even a module, i was just answering the vag-com question, im also willing to bet that you can turn off that update feature with the vag.
