Very little sound from rear speakers

Got myself an annoying problem, the only speaker i have got working in the rear of my car is the sub and even then it is quiet. I only have sound in the front of the car, i have checked vcds and it says they are all short to ground intermittent in the rear. The amp and full boot area is bone dry with no signs of water anywhere. Can anyone shed any light as its doing my head in!
