Do you think they'll take orders over the phone??? I'm going to be out of town that week :'( I'll call them tomorrow or Friday.
I've deposited the car already, so I do not know if you call and do not have a deposit down already. Plus I wouldn't call August 1st. It sounded like it would be during the first week of August. But call Town Motors in Englewood Nj. That is who will be taking my order in a week or two. I have my options already, but want to know the full list of them when I actually order the car.
I already have my name on the list (I'm in SoCal) and they said they'd call me as soon as they were taking orders. They said they weren't taking deposits, they were doing it on an order basis (as in, whenever you get in there and order it means you're getting one of the first or not). I'll call them tomorrow to see if they'll let me do it over the phone because I'm dead serious about getting this car. The dealer's GM knows this and said not to worry about deposits because if I decide I don't want the car he can sell it in 2 seconds, obviously.
im in miami, fl. about a month ago i left a $500 deposit with the audi sales manager at a dealer nearby, i was 5th in line. when he gets his first orders, he calls each person on the list giving a choice of what cars he has. they pick then he goes to next person. if they dont answer that day, they pass.

today i get a call from chad, my salesman. he lets me know he wasnt able to get in touch with 2 of the people on the list, he also let me know that he was informed that he could get the first 3 orders custom. since i was 3rd, i could order my car how i wanted it, with which options. i was pressed on time but came up with white ext on magma int. planning to put a set of white rims.

car should be here by nov. as i was pressed on time, i didn't bother asking for pricing. i knew what i wanted. ill ask him tomorrow if he has any info.

this sunday there is an audi event at the speedway which he invited me and signed me up for. i think i get to test the new tt, q7, and s5.
I actually ordered my S5 yesterday from Bell Audi in Rahway, NJ. Gave my dealer a deposit, got an Audi confirmation number and commission code. It should be in early November. Brilliant Red, silver interior. I thought about Sprint Blue for a while, but ended up ordering the same configuration as the one that was on the turntable in the Audi USA showroom in NYC back in March, which literally made me do a double-take when I saw it and then go into the showroom to touch it and sit in it and look at it for 45 minutes. The car is so magnificent in 3 dimensions, in so many ways that just don't translate in pictures. I can't wait for it to get here.
What did you think of its actual size. Hearing that the pictures show it off bigger than it actually is. Any comment?

I think it is the perfect size. It is smaller than a 6 series BMW, but projects much more presence, and feels wider, than a 3 series coupe. So think of it like the size of a BMW 5.5 series, if there was such a thing. As far as interior, the front seats (I didn't bother with the rears) are very comfortable, snug and supportive, with the view and feel from the driver's seat very reminiscent of the feeling behind the wheel of an A6 -- MMI knob on the center tunnel surrounded by four selecting toggles, nav screen tucked under a lip on the center of the dash to the right of the instrument cluster, up and above the radio.
I did not think the nuances of the car's design, the smooth flow of all the surfaces one into the other, come across well in pictures at all, but in person (in car?) it is sheer artistry.
Thanks for the mini-review. I'm interested in the A5 hoping the lines will stay the same. From all the pictures and reviews it seems so.

Couple dealers all told me the same thing: December delivery :\
I am still being told November delivery. I ordered my car two days ago and received a commission number yesterday confirming the order with AoA.
I placed an order last week and have a commission number as well. Talked with 5 different dealers throughout the midwest and was told by two in Cincy, they will recieve first car in Nov and second in early Dec. The other 3 dealers had no information on delivery.
I was told today after ordering my car that it will be built in Spetmeber with a Nov delivery date. This is because of the vacations taken in August. The plant practially shuts down during August.
Hi PUIDR,

I'm in Ohio (Midwest). Which dealer did you end up ordering through? I've been in contact with several of the dealerships in this region. However, I'm not 100% set yet as to where I will be ordering my A5 from.

Yesterday I received a production week update on my car. However this was bad news. Week44 for production which puts delivery about January 1. This delay is for all US production cars including the demo cars. The dealership currently expects their demo car in about 3-4 weeks vs. already having it as was thought a month ago.

I got a call on Saturday and was updated with a in system delivery date of December 29th.
My dealer told me I'm getting it in November--I'm in the very first batch of cars headed for California.

You had better check with them then. My car was a projected November delivery. All US cars have been pushed back 6-8 weeks. This includes the demo cars which were to have all ready been here. Most likely you are also getting a Christmas present. I will wait till January 1st to pick mine up for tax reasons.

Yup.. mine too. I got a call from my sales rep this afternoon. I had a build week of September 24th, and now pushed back to November. He said they're having problems creating enough parts to meet the demand. Part of me really wishes they could somehow get that new sport differential quattro thing in there since it's delayed but I'm not getting my hopes up.

I'm thinking my S5 won't get here until January.
Wow, this really puts a damper on things. Is this definitely confirmed between Audi and the dealerships? What status are your orders in (AccessAudi)? I was sent a confirmation to pick up the car next month but I don't see how that would be possible if Audi really has the major delays for all cars destined to the U.S. Anyone have additional info?

If we have to wait until January, I wonder if it makes more sense to cancel the order and purchase the 2008 version with Torque Vectoring?
