My S5's exhaust went under the knife this morning and the results are fantastic!

Unfortunately it was too windy outside to get a decent video so the best I could do is a video in my garage. I know it doesn't sound great, you'll just have to take my word for it.

I have a deep burbling note with very little increase in cabin noise when driving normally. I found myself driving all day with the windows down enjoying the sound.

How would you say the tone compares to the unresonated Milltek? It's always hard to judge based on the videos, just wondering if you'd had a chance to compare in person. Also, are your downpipes still stock?

Haven't heard Milltek in person but from the sound of the various videos I've heard I 'd have to say the Milltek sounds higher pitched than mine.

My wife (who is quite fussy and paranoid about me becoming a tacky petrol head) said it has a really deep sporty sound while remaining non-offensive. If you've been to a F1 race, it sounds very similar to the AMG MB Safety Car.

Downpipes are stock and I have no plan to replace.

Dear Quattro Joe
can I ask where you got the exhaust fitted and the approx cost in Aust dollars?
I am in Melbourne and am interested in having something similar fitted. My major concern with fitting after market systems is that with previous systems (not Audi's) they have "droned" which made me regret fitting the system. Does your system make actual performance better?

I had the MTM exhaust fitted at TCCA and the resonator removed at Hitech Exhaust, both in Sydney. To be honest with you, MTM sounds slick but is grossly overpriced in Australia and IMHO not worth the money. In hindsight I should have got the whole system made by Hitech. Actually I'm thinking about getting them to install new mufflers and quad tips. I'm sure you'll be able to achieve the same (or better) result from a quality exhaust specialist in Melbourne.

I have no droning during normal driving.

I can't say there's a significant difference in performance, probably slightly better throttle response in low revs.

Had a go at video-ing the exhaust again today, this time outside and a bit of wind in the background.

Really need to find a quiet spot where I can show how it sounds under load, you can only appreciate so much when the car is sitting still.

For those of you who are a little cautious about remove resonators.....

I took two mates to Top Gear Live last night, an hour drive each way, and neither of them thought there was any drone at all.

I really want those oval shaped tips on my exhaust. I tired of paying thousands of dollars for a cat back exhaust. I'm actively searching around right now for the pieces to put together a Magnaflow system but I want those tips.

If someone know where I can get them, please post up. I know I can buy the MTM setup and I know its a great exhaust as I've had MTM on my other Audi's but like I said I'm done paying that much for exhaust pipes.

You should just try your local exhaust specialist, you'd be surprised what they have!

After all, it's just metal pipes
