I can't believe 8000 miles and 10 month old, the paint can have so many swirls. Apparently it's common on for the colour as it is for Black Audi according to Audi CS. How can Audi let this happen?

I have a DA that I could use but after paying 25k I expect more from Audi!

Their wash technique is awful...

I have to tell them not to wash it when it goes in for any work now.

That and the fact most people just use drive through car washes.

Mine is black and was 4 years old with 23k on the clock when I bought it! That took a while to sort out!

A very late update. But after speaking to boss of Newcastle Audi. He paid towards the cost of the detail. Car was detailed by Reflectology in Sheffield and the car is 95% corrected. Much happier with it. So all in all a bit of a late response from Newcastle Audi but resolved now.

Since then I have used Bradford Audi for a warranty job and they were very good and comprehensive.

I seem to recall telling a dealer not to wash my car at a service, he wrote the notes down on the service sheet, washed the car and returned it ruined with swirl marks all over, looked like they had used a scouring pad on it

I asked him to review his paperwork and he confirmed my instruction.

I asked them to pay to have a detailer correct the mess.

The answer was " No, we wont be paying for that" but he did offer to wash it again for me :wall:

Cost me £300 quid for a full detail those f*ckers did

Mind you the Merc garage only has a full on auto car wah in the yard :yikes: On seeing this I informed the dealer that if they ever put my car through that thing they would be replacing the car at their expense, dealer said they had a quite a few customers who said the same. To be fair they haven't yet.

Urgh tell me about it gruffle! Went to a new dealer to get the window regulator done for cheap and told them not to wash and they still did. Like you I can only imagine they used wire wool....

My other halfs mini was in for a service and a MOT and both times we said no to washing and both times they did. Right after I did a winter prep for it....they even asked us when we handed it over! I guess most folks always say yes...?

Gonna take your approach though and warn them before hand, and get them to put it in writing! That way they can foot the bill...

Hi Matador

I've recently bought a 2011 A5 Sportback 3.2fsi S line Auto Quattro and intend to use Camberley Audi for service. You gave a good report in 2012 and I wonder if you are still pleased with them especially for servicing.I'm very pleased with the A5, except for road noise which is quite intrusive!

Best wishes

Hi all,

Im new here, I am standing up and endorsing Birmingham Audi, I purchased a A5 coupe off them last week, very impressed with the service, and I have never picked up a car that was so shiny!

So, many thanks to Birmingham Audi for my big cheesy grin!

I have had Audis for years, but this is the first one I have purchased from Audi, usually buy from ebay or have been company cars etc...

But on the downside....

Had my A4 Cab serviced and repaired at a Local "Audi Specialist" the other day.....I got back a damaged car, that failed its MOT on things they checked as OK, needed a new upper wishbone....Booked it in again for all wish bones , upper and lower both sides to be done, said they could do it on a Saturday...well took it in (and to effect a repair to the damage they did).....said they would only be changing one upper wishbone.....No way....either change the lot as the others would be on their way out too, or not at all, bloke stated that this wasn't agreed at the time of booking....what a complete lying "£%%...as I was very specific in my request,.so got in the car and drove off home, in a rage....will do it my self , at least I will know its done right!

Stuart Mills from Blackburn Audi (part of a small family ownedd/run dealership) gets my vote for good pre-/post sales service.

He openly admitted that he had only joined the company a fortnight earlier, having previously worked for another VAG dealership and I was his first handover (more so to me being impatient as he had sold two cars earlier in the week.

Courteous, informative and responsive. He was shocked when I refused a test-drive, and just wanted the numbers to stack-up to hit my budget, which they did after some negotiation.

Of course they key to being successful is matching the aftersales with the pre-sales efforts so fingers crossed it will be just as good.

Typical garage creating work to make money. I'm sure they have a target to get £1k extra per year, not to mention they abuse the engine on a post fix test (ever wondered why they reset the odometer?).
I have little trust, but the FASH is such a conflict.

I really should unsubscribe from this thread, but each sad tale serves to remind me why I am no longer in an Audi,

and chrisjenson - sorry for your bad experience, yes I too encountered Audi UK CS - "it's nothing to do with us, it's a dealer issue". Monty Python clearly dealt with them too.

Merc A45AMG

Goes like stink, really monstrously quick for a stock road car, engine sounds like a lada, exhaust yaps like a terrier on amphetamines, gets avg 30mpg despite my best efforts (I have no idea how) ... okay I have got it way lower than that :) but not as an average.

But it is devoid of class (in spite of the A Class name); creaks and rattles worse than a tarts bed, and some numpty forgot to build in the display so they just stuck it on the dash as an afterthought (and yes- it creaks too). The whole body resonates unpleasantly to the 4 pot buzz (... I'll leave the tart analogy for Danny and Racks to complete)

Dual clutch gearbox lags about as much as I did in school, has a mind of its own ... just like I did in school; but even it is put to shame by how long it can take the haldex to send the torque to the back which is measured in epochs (aka school minutes).

Brakes proper nice though, so is steering wheel and lovely metal aluminium paddles, seats are superb, these tactile things are an object lesson to Audi. Audio less balanced than the Audi B+O but much better overall to listen to as is missing the B+O's poorly processed smearing which ruins the involvement in the Audi.
Steering got no feel at all (school again?) in spite of press reports, my RS5 was better, although chassis is well enough balanced on the limit unless in mixed/damp road conditions at which point the electronics IQ barely adds up to the number of wheels and can lose the plot enough to make you wish you had brought the hedgetrimmer with you. The Comfort/Sport/Manual button is one button for all and is a complete menace. Audi can't crow either as the drive select went round in circles too. Who designs this stuff?

but it is not an RS5 :(

... and will be gone soon enough.

The joy of 8250rpm na V8 in the RS5 plus the understated style will be missed for some time yet, the A45... what was it again?

Merc dealers (x2) been fine so far, no complaints at all, at least I don't dread the service display appearing now!

Ah yes...that exhaust note is like a Siren....

Have a bloke who lives above me who me and the OH have named 'Elephant Man' since he only seems to be able to stamp...Seemed rather fitting he would also own the A45AMG! Its no mystery when he leaves thats for sure...

Havent cornered him yet to have a peek inside, or even have a ride along but he's got it in the matt gunmetal grey (ala Cuppa) and it looks beastly I must say.

Hardly sounds like a full love affair, but I guess same could be said for your old RS5 (put aside the dealerships for now...that makes it an unfair contest...)?

I can't say I've been tempted by the A-class. Never been much of a hatchback fan, but I am terribly tempted by the new M235i. Was interested in the 125i coupe before I got the A5, but that was before I realised you could barely swing a rat, let alone a cat inside it. The 2 series seems to have grown up without loosing the appeal of a small factor Coupe. Was much nicer to sit in....Only problem is I must confess to acting about 3x my age and enjoying the comfort and silence of the A5....
