But I Thought There Was A Power Cut @125mph For The U.s. Tires. Mine Is A 2009 A5 3.2 With The 18 Inch Standard Wheels And Alweather Tires. My Truck Cuts Off @100mph My Vw Cuts Off @123mph.. Whats The Cutof For The U.s. A5 And S5????? Thanks

I know for sure that the S5 is electronically limited to 155 MPH.. I had to get a remap to get past this cap, but haven't gone that fast yet! hehe

The reason for this is because 155 is the max that they tires are rated for here in the US..

Can't remember what the A5's is..
mine stopped right at 155 and had alittle more juice to give but those damn governers made it stand dead still
I have done 165MPH in my A5 TDI and it had enough power to go more, but there was a limiter. :(
May not concern U.S. cars, but with only rare exceptions in Europe German car manufacturers limit their cars at 250 km/h (as does Audi for A5/S5 too).

Well I don't think so!!!! even the new R8 V10 is limited to 155mph so where in the hell can a 3lt Tdi get to 165mph and still have more to go:talk2hand:
I got a feeling Alejandro will be along soon to tell us Boom...:mallet: Is is very shiney and well polished so maybe with the wind in the right direction..
Several times I hit the speed limiter in my S5 (in Germany, where there is no speed limit :D), which was at 272 km/h (265 km/h GPS speed), so apparantly a little bit more then the agreed 250 km/h. I consider to remove the speed limiter, so 280-285 km/h GPS speed must be possible.

BTW: if I am correct, the R8 is NOT limited and will drive > 300 km/h
There are a few videos on Youtube of 3.0 TDIs topping 260 kmh..........

Just do a quick search

Here's one of them:

266kmh = 164 mph
I have an American Spec A5 here in Germany, unfortunately my snow tires are rated for 130mph, I make many trips across country on the autobahn and I keep her at 128-129mph until I put my summer tires and rims back on....can't wait to find out if there is a limiter when it gets warmer:running:.
293km/h yesterday, mybe 300km/h is possible. I will try again on monday when I get new filter.
Guys, you are funny funny.

Boom_Boom guy, it might be worth reading my signature first, don't you think? My car is modified by MTM and has 310/640, not 240/500 like stock, mind you I have reached 165MPH when my car was stock as well. :) And by the way, I have personally seen a value of 310KPH in a V8 R8.

And I am sure that without the limiter my car will be able to hit 280-285KPH on the speedometer, after all I have done 266KPH uphill! By the way, value of 266KPH on the speedometer is actually corresponding to value of 250-255 GPS. So don't really get the point of so much excitement?

I am not saying that my car is a rocket or anything, but hell, I have seen 230BHP cars hitting 270KPH on the speedo (Golf GTI Edition 30), so why my 310BHP car won't hit 280?
@Alejandro: It's a pity, that the cantronic doesn't disable the speed limiter - I also think, your car is able to ride "real" (GPS)-265 kph... But by the way - the Golf's "270" kph are surely not more than real 245 kph. Its speedo is imprecise at higher speeds.

It is a shame, indeed. I have asked them why and they said that at this moment they are simply not capable of doing it.
I have a 2009 Audi A5 3.2 and I do feel a significant power loss at around 120mph. When got the car, it advertised as being electronically limited to 155mph. I suspect mine is limited to 130mph as in current 3.2 US models. Maybe I should bring this up in my next servicing.

there is no 130mph limit on the A5 in the US... i've had my '08 3.2 up to 157 on the speedo.

You have the 2008. If you look at the the US Audi website for the 2010 A5 it is says limited to 130mph.

I've hit 155 mph several times, both in Germany when I picked mine up and here in the US. Always cuts out just before I run out of gumption to go much faster.:running:
I've done 143 mph (230 km/h) and struggled to go any higher because of 2 reasons:

1. It was sloooowly climbing:thumbsdown:

and

2. I was running out of road:wall:

Will get my revenge once my mods are done:2thumbsup:
Hoping to hit at least 250+ km/h then....
