Hey Guys,

I have a non s-line A5 on order but was starting to wonder if it'd be worth it to add the s-line...I did get the 19's on the standard but I'm think the more aggressive look of the s-line might be worth the extra bucks...

What are your thoughts...especially if you didn't get the s-line...?

I guess in the U.S. the most common complaint has been that with S-line you can only choose the black interior which does not suit everyone's taste. I don't know if this still holds true for model year 2009 (and did they change full leather to leather/Alcantara for S-line model year 2009, I remember reading about such a thing but not sure).

Other than that, I'd personally go for it if you have the money.

As loc mentioned, my only complaint with the S-line package is the black only interior. Since I really wanted Cinnamon Brown interior, I opted not to get the S-line package. The thing I like most about the S-line is the look of the diffuser on the rear bumper. So, depending upon what's important to you in terms of exterior styling, then the S-line may be something worth considering.

I didn't get the S line because I don't like 19" rims. 18" is my limit with potholes etc. Plus I just don't like the look of 19" rims....too much for my taste. I also agree that the lack of interior color choices is bad. I'm sticking to my cinnamon brown interior, 18" rims and the standard A5.

That's the thread that convinced me to go with the S-Line. I wanted a black interior though - if black isn't your thing, then the S-Line isn't for you.

As funny as it sounds, a big point on the S-Line, for me, is the black headliner. I test drove a Black/Red 135i before putting my A5 order in and the headliner was silver (gray) which absolutely clashed with the red seats and black dash. As fun as that 135i is, I just couldn't take my eyes off that clash in the headliner during the drive. I drove it a few weeks later to give it another shot, and it was even worse.

The headliner wasn't the only reason for not buying the 135i or selecting the S-Line in the A5, but it is definitely a sore thumb for me. I buy black cars, so a gray headliner doesn't go that well (unless you have a non-black interior). This isn't nearly as bad in the A5 as it is in the 135i, but that's what helped push me over the edge. Then throw in the bumpers, skirts, suspension, alacantara seats in the 2009 and the S-Line is a nice bonus!

You have to go with the S-Line. It looks so-much better. The non- S-Lines are so rounded and stand so tall they just don't do the A5 justice. I wanted to get a S5 but(not much for waiting) a S-Line atleast looks like one.

As for the 19" Y's... They are growing on me. I do like them better than the S5 rims. They are hard to keep clean but when they are they look pretty darn good. The ride is nice too. I don't know what some of these other members on the forum drove before, but unless your coming from a Lincoln Towncar the ride is smooth and soft. I'm coming from an older Carrera and I tell you there is no comparison. I could feel it when I hit an ant in the road.

I think the S-Line is better because I wanted it to look like an S5, yet I don't want the V8.. (yes i do want the V8, but its more expensive, and I try to be frugal in life and don't want to pay for the gas)... okay laugh at me for being frugal and getting an A5 s-line. I just need a car to match my style ;-) 24 year old working in the real world.. ya know how it is *GRIN* I also want the aluminum trim. (wood trip doesn't do it for me in this modern world) The 19 inch which you say you want.. so go for it. I am also going with the masino red, so s-line is even more of a must. Black interior is something i wasn't too trilled with however all the others make up for it, plus the aluminum trim and the black will be pretty hot looking.

I like the look of the S-Line, but as with TXCarguy, I was really keen on getting the cinnamon brown interior, and on not getting a black interior. Since you can have S-line "in any color as long as it's black" (when did Audi start copying Henry Ford?!), that was a deal breaker for me.

Thanks

Thanks for all the feedback guys! I have a lot to consider...I'm cool with the black interior, I'm just having a hard time justifying the added expense for what is primarily exterior upgrades, and nothing really more "sport tuned" about it except suspension...
