Own an S5? Taken a good look at it lately?

At our S5 mod-party on Friday, one of our number pointed out the curious (and very stubborn!) residue on the red part of the S5 badge on his boot/trunk. With 5 cars there during the day, I conducted a quick survey and, lo and behold, all of them were similarly affected!

Mine is gone now, courtesy of a bit of Autoglym and some elbow grease, but I was also amused to see that the car in the beautiful photos posted elsewhere (see below, from 'Best S5 pics I've seen....' thread) also showed this blemish (look at the top of the red segment).

So, if you haven't already done so, get out there to your car today and let's rid ourselves of this menace once and for all!

Would be interested to see how many cars are affected......

The sticky residue is anti theft.

Ahhh, thanks Jarod, these cunning Germans eh? The idea being, I suppose, that should anyone attempt to remove said badge, they quickly find themselves adhered to the back of the car, awaiting discovery upon the owner's return.

D*mn - and now I've gone and removed my protection. Spare S5 badge anyone? :p

What a great idea... I will paint thick, sticky permant-staining goo all over the exterior paintwork, glass and drivers seat of my car to stop people stealing it.

Ian,
You might want to be careful with that - you'd probably infringe the car theif's 'human rights' (or something) and then Gordon Brown and his cronies in the Justice Ministry would come calling...! The tea-leaf would of course be rewarded in some way (all-expenses-paid foreign holiday to recompense him for his trouble, that sort of thing.)

Just a sad indictment of the state we've got ourselves into!

Cockney rhyming slang mate - 'tea-leaf' - 'thief'

See how you get on with these.

'Apples and pears'?
'Trouble and strife'?
'Titfer'?
'Ruby Murray'?
'Adam and Eve'?
'Butcher's hook'?

See the fun we could have?

I'm not into slang.

'Apples and pears'? = Stairs.
'Trouble and strife'? = Wife.
'Titfer'? = hat
'Ruby Murray'? = Curry.
'Adam and Eve'? = Believe
'Butcher's hook'? = Look

But i don't see the connections.

no sticky residue on my trunk in chicago
The question is: what is the sticky residue on the logo. ;)
Maybe it's from someone that is a big fan of your car and demostrate it on the S5 logo.

Sticky Badge

Mine has it, I think it's caused by the S5's unbelievable speed:)

Amazingly..."thief" being much like "tea leaf" did come to mind before I asked. The rest of you guys' exchange? Completely lost!

Someone used the word "git" the other day, which I've rarely heard, but it strikes me as a very useful word. ;)
